Scheduled for Moderna #2 tomorrow. A bit anxious about it. After the first one I had swollen lymph nodes in my armpit for a week. Didn't realize at first that it was a side effect and was ready to call my doctor about scheduling a mammogram. Thankfully it went away but I'm not looking forward to what the second dose will do.

Got Moderna #2 yesterday at noon. Felt perfectly fine the rest of the day.

Then I woke up at 5am and was pretty uncomfortable the remainder of the day. Chills, fever, body aches. More so just annoying while trying to WFH.

Update: Day #3 I woke up feeling perfectly fine.

Good info. Look at the placebo group numbers. We got some real hypochondriacs out there. Placebo group actually more likely to get the runs in some cases. Maybe it was the Taco Bell with the Arby's chaser and not the vaccine?

Taco Bell with an Arby's chaser might kill the virus outright!

Update; 48 hours after Moderna #2 and chills/night sweat and headache have gone away. Muscle aches and brain fog seem to be fading quickly.

48 hours after Moderna #2 and I'm back to completely normal. I was expecting much worse based on the majority of people here, but happy to get out with about 20 total hours of flu-like symptoms.

Would make same recommendation especially for people not very much at risk for severe Covid. It will be a matter of weeks if not days before people are able to sign up for the others at will, not sure why anybody would get the Moderna one.
Bad advice.

If you can get the vaccine, get it.

Rope off about 36 hours to feel a little crummy, and go on about your business.
Disagree completely. Who are you to recommmend someone to suffer for a 48 hour period in order to get a vaccine slightly earlier for something that would likely equate to a minor sinus infection if they were to get it? I have friends that signed up for and got the J&J shot and were done with almost no symptoms entirely within my waiting time for the second Moderna shot.
And who are you to suggest someone possibly expose themselves to Covid while they wait for a vaccine and put themselves at even greater risk?

Most people understand the risk, and weigh them accordingly.

Your advice, is stupid. Sorry you felt bad for a day, but quit being a whiny wimp about it. Suck it up. And be done with it.

Got Moderna #2 on Monday afternoon. Nothing but a slightly sore arm, very minor headache and a little tired that evening/yesterday until after work and then WHAM... spent Tuesday night alternating between chills and burning up, joint aches and swollen lymph nodes.

Other than tired feeling close to normal Wednesday.
Slept like a log last night. Back to 100% today (Thursday).

Don't mind the 12 hours spent conked out given the alternative.

I had Covid over Christmas and got my first dose (Pfizer) on 3/14. I was pretty out of it for about 10 hours starting at noon the day after the shot. I had chills, a low fever, a bad headache, body aches, and I slept most of the afternoon. As suddenly as the symptoms started they stopped, and I felt fine the next day. My arm was sore for 4 or 5 days with my first shot.

I got my second dose yesterday afternoon, and so far today has been relatively normal. I'm a little tired and I had a slight headache that went away with Tylenol. If I wasn't looking for symptoms I'm not sure I would have thought anything of it. Even my arm hurts less this time around!

Mid-30's and got the Pfizer vaccine. My arm was sore for about 24 hours after the first shot and slightly sore after the 2nd shot but gone within about 12 hours. No side effects or any other issues. Maybe I'm super human now.

I can understand shopping the one-shot J&J vs two-shot mRNA vaccines, given the logistics of scheduling, type of immunological response and likely duration efficacy, but picking between Pfizer and Moderna is very much splitting hairs IMO. It's a coin flip if you have side effects with either one, and the side effects are essentially proof positive you have developed an immune response.

I'm on the other side of shot #2. I had expected chills and a low fever. I was not expecting violent shaking with the chills. My joints ached, especially my hips. I felt like I had been hit by a train. Lymph nodes flared almost immediately. Shot on Thursday. Thursday night and Friday were awful. Saturday just dealt a sore arm, headache, and continued lymph node swelling.

2nd shot of Moderna on Friday. Slept very poorly that night and was very, very tired on Friday. About 24 hours after the shot started feeling worse (more tired, nose running, slight fever, a few aches starting), but then at 27 hours a switch flipped and started feeling better immediately. By 28 hrs, was 100% normal. Sore arm, too, of course.

All in all, no big deal.

My husband and I, both in our 70's, have had both Moderna shots and no effects at all except sore shoulder for a day or two.

I had Covid after Christmas and had a normal mild case with all the symptoms resolved in a couple of weeks except for some vertigo and pretty intense joint and muscle pain in the shoulders and hips. Don't get me wrong as it was unpleasant as hell, but didn't require hospitalization or anything like that. I don't ever want to have it again primarily because of the duration of symptoms.

We went to Disney in February and after walking over 50 miles that week, my hip pain went away.

So, I figured exercise was key and started lifting again to try to get the pain out of my shoulders and biceps, but nothing worked...until I got my first vaccine shot last week.

Got it Wednesday morning and had chills and fever that night about midnight. Body aches and fever all next day and then pretty much fine on Friday.

The kicker is that my shoulder pain is absolutely gone and the pain/muscle weakness in my upper arms is gone. I can't believe it.

One of the weirder things to come out of this has been what you just described - long symptoms resolving after getting the vaccine. My aunt had covid in January and was only "properly' sick for 10 days(ish) but had no smell/taste and ongoing joint/muscle pain for weeks, right up to getting her shot earlier this month.

It's a given at this point, but it's a weird bug to be sure.

Holy cow. I didn't think I'd be hit so hard after the second dose. I've casually estimated maybe about 1/3 of my friends got a bad reaction from the second dose, so I wasn't too concerned. Further, I can count on one hand how many times I was bedridden due to illness as an adult. Big mistake.

The first dose back in March, I had arm pain for about two days. Nine days after, I got some bad swelling, pain, and itching about three inches below the injection site. This went on for about four days.

Got my second Moderna dose on 4:30 pm on Saturday. Arm soreness, but otherwise fine. Woke up Sunday to body aches all over and chills. Took care of all my pets and then basically stayed in bed till the late afternoon. I tried to get up and do a little bit of work and walk around, but couldn't do it - just weak all over and headaches on and off all day. My house was in the mid 70's Fahrenheit, but I was either under the covers or wore a jacket all day. I took my temperature at various times and it peaked at 100.4 in the evening.

Went to bed early, slept in, and things are more or less back to normal today. No temperature, no chills, arm even feels near normal. There is some lingering body aches.

Yeah I haven't had my second one yet, but shot one today and I had arm pain within 20 minutes of the shot. And then it plateaued in about 3 hours, 8 hours in and that's all I've had. I'll probably wake up tomorrow and think I'm dying.
My sister had her second one at exactly the same time as my first today and she just had the arm and headache tonight. My dad, whose 80 had almost nothing with either shot. A friend of mine got really sick on the first shot. Another friend, who runs 20 miles a week probably but had previously had covid, but got pretty sick on shot 2.
It's a crap shoot,

2nd Pfizer 18 hours ago. 48 years old, ran 3 marathons this year, BMI 24.

Woke up achy with teeth chattering. Just took some ibuprofen. Hopefully just sick enough to skip work and binge some Netflix.

Update:

Feel fine after the ibuprofen. Just tired from missing a few hours of sleep.

Wife and I 2nd shot 1 week ago.
Me, no symptoms at all. Arm not even sore. Felt the shot go in, but no residual.
Wife, first 18 hours fine, then she became light headed. She felt the same way after the first dose. Dizzy.
Seemed to get worst as the day progressed.
Got worst on days 2-4 had to take motion sickness pills and pepto for dizziness and nausea. Concerning because these aren't the typical symptoms. No fever, no chills, no muscle aches. Plus, they are lasting longer than the usual 24 to 48 hrs....
Days 5 and 6 still not out of the woods but slowly getting better.
Day 7 today she went back to work and appears to be near recovered.

Gotta think there's a bias towards talking about having side effects rather than not, but the chances are more or less a coin flip.

Said it before and will again, a day or so feeling out of sorts is no price to pay for peace of mind.

It's like reviews. More people take the time to write negative reviews than positive.

The consensus is... there is no standard reaction. Everyone is different. Enjoy!

For the people I know, it's been about 50/50 as far as getting sick from the 2nd shot of Moderna. My husband and my parents only got a sore arm. I was extremely sick but was over it within 36 hours of it starting. A super miserable 24 hours and then better but still "foggy" feeling for another 12 hours. Have had friends with similar reactions - 24 or so hours sick in bed. And other people have been fine other than the sore arm, which seems to be pretty universal.
