WOMEN:
Kansas [53,50]

We have received the help from Arkansas MEN that we desperately needed. Thanks Razorbacks!

WOMEN:
200m: Kamaria Brown finished second in the semifinals. Kimberly Duncan from LSU finished first and looks unbeatable. Olivia Ekpone also advanced to the finals finishing eight. We should pick up at least 9 points in the finals. Ashton Purvis finished 14th and did not advance.

100H: Donique Flemings finished fourth out of 24 runners and will advance to the finals for some much needed points. Her season best time this year (12.95) will be the seventh fastest time among the eight finalists. All runners will have broken the 13 second barrier this season.

4x400: We advanced to the finals finishing sixth out of the 24 relay teams. We are projected to finish 3rd or 4th but will have to run much faster than we did today to accomplish this goal.

MEN:
200m: Ameer Webb continues to be a huge asset for the AGGIES. He finished third out of 24 runners to advance to the finals. He nearly broke the 20 second barrier today with a 20.05. There are 4 extremely fast runners in this event. Saturday may see all four go below 20 seconds. We need some quality points from him in this race Saturday if we are going to win this meet.

110H: Wayne Davis finished second to Spencer Adams of Clemson with his best time of the year – 13.25. This will also be a tight race Saturday. The times of the top 5 runners are separated by less than 0.1 of a second.

4x400: The Aggies had the fastest time in the relay semifinals and advanced to the finals on Saturday afternoon. Running for the Aggies were Ricky Babineaux (SR), Aldrich Bailey (FR), Carlyle Roudette (JR), and Deon Lendore (SO).

The National Championship may come down to how the teams finish in the final race of the meet – the 4x400 relay. Arkansas, Oregon, and Florida are also running in this final event of the meet.

Thanks MidTnAg and everyone else for the analysis! This is all great stuff.

Looks like the Ags did what they needed to and the Razorbacks had a small letdown. Hope they can pull it out!
Are our heptathletes on track to score points? They seemed down in the pack...

MEN: In the beginning, I thought that the contest would be between Arkansas and the home team – Oregon. Oregon has not looked like they knew they were on their own turf. Arkansas has not shown the competitiveness that they did in the SEC Meet – when they clobbered us. Both teams are loaded.

Now it appears we have the upper hand and it is ours to win or lose. Go AGS. Win this damn thing!

It will difficult for our Jena Hemann and Annie Kunz to place in the top 8 in the heptathlon. After four events, they are in 14th and 16th places respectively. There are young – only sophomores. Hopefully, they will get better and be back next year. Seven of the current top 11 individuals are seniors.

Can you imagine how great of an athlete they must be to compete in the NCAA Championship Meet in the heptathlon?

With three events left, Jena is in 14th place with 3334 and Annie is in 16th place with 3312. The current 8th place holder has 3468, over 130 points ahead of Jena. Big swings do occur from one event to another, but to be able to pass everyone in between and get into 8th place is a tall order.

The one event which both ladies excelled compared to those in front of them on Thursday was the shot put. The events today are the long jump, the javelin, and the 800 meter run. Those ahead of Jena and Annie have seemed to excel at the sprinting disciplines - the 100 meter hurdles, the high jump, and the 200 meters. Maybe with Day 2 being a bit more inclined towards a weight event and the longer distance, Jena and Annie can move up a bit. I really don't know their individual strengths. But asking them to move up to 8th would require super performances from them plus some misses from the ladies ahead of them.

You would think our future should look bright here - maybe just not this year.

Good gravy! Dwight Stones is calling Mississippi State "A&M"....

Dwight Stones is right up there with Carol Lewis as one of the worst T&F commentators on television. Maybe he can't read and just sees colors.

He was just as bad at the SEC meet. Even after commenting extensively that Ashley Collier scratched from the 100m, he repeatedly called her anchoring the 4X100 instead of Jennifer Madu. Must have been embarassed when JM was interviewed post race.

I say fight fire with fire regarding these announcers. Just call Carol Lewis, "Carl", and Dwight Stones, "Dwight Yoakum", until they start getting our names right!

Not sure he can even see colors since A&M has been wearing white and grey bodysuits, not any shade of red/maroon, the entire meet.

WOW! I didn’t know track star Annie Kunz and soccer star Annie Kunz were the same person. I love soccer – my favorite sport. Wish I could still run – I would still be refereeing. In Arlington, we had an over-50 league that I played in when I lived there.

Thursday, DAY 3
All events from now on are finals. Point accumulation will start in earnest.
After all the pre-final events, there are not as many people to keep up with (AGGIES and top opponents) because the number of participants has been greatly reduced.

Start of Day 3 sees the AGGIE WOMEN with one point and the MEN with none. This was expected. Our points will come from the events on Days 3 and 4. Participants for those days have already been determined and are getting ready to kick some butt!.

Goals: MEN – National Championship; WOMEN – in Top 5
Today Goals: The MEN need 20 points; the WOMEN need at least 7.

Folks,
I think we are doing well this year but next year we should be even stronger.
Due to injuries and whatever other reasons we have been tremendously hampered this season. Also some of our outstanding recruits have not really contributed individually at Nationals as yet.
Men
Prezel Hardy (Junior) – World Junior Champion 2009 – No individual finals and points as yet (PB 10.11 and 20.33)
Kenneth Minkah (Sophmore) – Top Junior Hurdler – Didn’t make NCAA’s
Gregory Coleman (Sophmore) – World Junior Championship Semifinalist 2009 – Just missed out on the finals at 400m hurdles yesterday
Aldrich Bailey (Freshman)–Top recruit athlete. Top US Junior. World junior Championship 3rd place 2012– PB 10.42 (100m) 20.78 (200m) and 45.19 (400) Have not run any times near his personal best this season and didn’t qualify for NCAA as an individual athlete
Bralon Taplin(Junior) – Top Junior College transfer in 400m PB 45.36 (400m) 20.83 (200m). Have not run any times near his personal best this season and didn’t qualify for NCAA as an individual athlete.
Women
Shelbi Vaugh (Freshman) – Top Discuss Recruit – Did not make the NCAA’s
Natosha Rogers(Senior) – 10,000m NCAA champion 2012– Injured out this season
Kanika Beckles (Senior) – One of our Top 400m runners last season. PB 51.73 (400m) –Injured at NCAA indoors and ruled out the rest of the season.
Janeil Bellile (Junior) – Top Junior College transfer in 400m hurdles PB – 55.80 (400m H). This time would have made her the 3rd fastest at NCAA. Out this season.
Ashton Purvis (Sophomore) Top Sprinter Transfer – Ran 22.70 indoors but has not run near this time outdoors. Did not make the NCAA finals in 100m or 200m PB 11.17 (100m) 22.70 (200m)
Ashley Collier (Junior) – PB 11.01 (100m) 22.89 (200m). Has not run well . Not anything close to her best.
Jena Heman (Sophmore)– PB 1.80 high Jump. Has not jump near her PB this season. Would have made NCAA in the high jump if she was close to PB this season One can conclude she has been working on other events in the Heptathlon

Imagine if all these athletes and others who made the finals are performing at the top of their form this season. A&M would have been unstoppable.
ANYWAY NEXT YEAR WOULD BE GREATER FOR THE AGGIES
