2014 SEC T&F Meet starts this coming weekend at Kentucky. Meet starts Thursday continues thru Sunday. Same three teams [Florida, Arkansas, Texas A&M] are expected to vie for the Championship in both Men and Women competitions.

Look under Topic “Any word on Aggie track results at LSU –“for some excellent comments by Triniaggie, our foremost A&M T&F expert on this forum.

Heat Sheets are not out yet so these projections are very rough estimates. Projected points based on best outdoor performances this season with national rankings in parentheses:

MEN:
Arkansas (#4) – 129
Texas A&M (#2) – 119
Florida (#1) – 115
Georgia (#7) – 86
Alabama (#11) – 73
Kentucky (#19) – 64
Mississippi (#18) – 55
LSU (#9) – 53

WOMEN:
Florida (#1) – 136
Arkansas (#8) – 124
Texas A&M (#4) – 112
Georgia (#5) – 88
Kentucky (#6) – 83
LSU (#7) – 80
Missouri (#13) – 57

MidTn - Good Job as usual. Give us some live updates while in Kentucky
The heat sheet have been posted
See article below (heat sheet to the left of the article)
http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=209495579

The Aggies have some tough heats with some heats having two and three Aggies. This would have been because of performance rank leading up the SEC championship. Some of our sprinters will therefore have to run really fast to make the finals
The positive news is that Aldrich Bailey is back and is listed in both 200m and 400m. I don't know how fit he is after the broken foot but it would be a stepping stone to nationals in a month's time. Also listed to compete in the 400m is Bralon Taplin who has not run since spring last year. Again he might short on race practice but if he runs anyway close to his Pb of 45.19 would be tremendous for the Aggies.
The inclusion of both would help the 4x400m relay as well and Bailey in the 4x100m and also the team scoring for the Aggies
We wish the Aggie Track all the best this weekend and hope they can bring home both titles

Loss of 2 points for the women. Brea Garrett foul all three throws in the women's hammer. She had the 7th best mark going into the SEC championship,
Freshmen Alison Ondrusek made the finals but ended up 9th.

Trini. Unfortunately, I will not be going to Kentucky. My back surgeries still prevent me at times from traveling very far. However, I would love to visit Aggieland for the 2020 SEC T&F Meet to see our new stadium at the Pat Henry Track & Field Complex. Do you think we will really get a new stadium?

The University has actually done a lot for track at A&M – new indoor stadium and a new cross-country facility. It should because track brings in by far more Director Cup points than any other sport. And we definitely want to continue our run of Top 10 finishes.

I don't think they have a choice in the matter about the stadium. I was reading the Hosting rules and it says "To be eligible to host the SEC Championships, the host institution must meet the foul camera protocols set out in Supplement C". "Technical Requirements - Enough cameras must be available to monitor all throw and horizontal jump competitions, including Combined Event competition."
The rules call for a modern stadium. Hope they really build the stadium and it would be nice to be present for the first SEC outdoor championship in 2020 in College station.

BTW - We have some good results from our recent recruits. Latario Collie-Minns and Lathone Collie-Minns (twin brothers) Junior College transfers will be here next semester as Triple jumpers. They places 1st and 2nd in the triple jump at the JUCO track and field championship yesterday. Latario Collie-Minns has a SB of 17.12m (w) in the triple jump and 7.69m in the long jump. Lathone Collie-Minns has a SB of 16.75m in the Triple jump and 7.58m in the long Jump. They are rank amongst the best in the world. Also Just'n Thymes Junior College transfer in the sprint has run 10.18 for 100m and 20.42 for 200m this season so far. These are really good times

It is so cold in Lexington. In the low 50’s there with a wind of 10+ mph. Decathlon pole vault moved indoors due to wind. It was in the 40’s here in Nashville last night and scheduled to be so for the next two nights. Not your typical outdoor SEC meet weather.

Trini, the JC performances are excellent. The triple jumps are phenomenal. They could be worth 18 points in the TJ at the next two SEC and NCAA meets. WOW!

I read the same about the cameras. Looks to be several required. However, they can be in place without a new stadium, correct? What kind a “stadium” do we have? Would it be considered modern? Do we even have a stadium?

Casey finishes 5th. Austin didn’t give himself a chance to gain any points, fouling on his last 5 throws.

Kyra Jefferson is not in meet for Florida. That is a huge blow for them as she had the fastest time in the 200. It also impacts their sprint relay. It is probably enough to make A&M the clear favorite on the women's side.

I should say over Florida. Arkansas remains a real threat because of their distance strength.

Did you do your scoring off the conference descending order list or did you take out athletes that aren't contesting events?

Ed. My first projections were based on best performances by everyone in the SEC. My second projections were based on only those participating in the meet [Start Lists]. Surprisingly, these projections are always very similar in SEC indoor and outdoor meets as well as the NCAA meets.

Arkansas went from 129 to 131.5; Texas A&M from 119 to 123.5; Florida stayed the same at 115. Doesn’t seem logical, does it?

I can't believe an Aggie [Austin Wells] finished as high as third in the Men's 10K.

Have we ever done so well in 10K races at a conference meet? Men 3rd and 6th [Austin Wells & Ryan Miller]. Women 7th, 8th, and 9th [Hillary Montgomery, Karis Jochen, & Gabby Salazar]. Two fish, two juniors, and one senior. Incredible performances for sprint oriented teams.

Solid performances from the Aggies yesterday. I am bit disappointed with our seniors Michael Bryan and Ashley Collier runs in the 200m. Just two years ago Ashley was the big 12 champion in the 100m and has a PB of 22.89 in the 200m. It is clearly evident they have been struggling with something we don't know. It sad to see them go out this way. Aldrich Bailey did a reasonable time of 21.25 for his first outdoor race since his broken foot. I expect him to get better with more time and races but I don't think his 200m time is good enough to make the regionals in two weeks as one of the top 48 qualifiers in this event.

Aldrich has got to be disappointed that he could not do better. However, it was so cold and that may have affected his foot. He will not make regionals in the 200. Hopefully, he will in the 400, his best event. He will probably have to run a sub-47 to have a chance at regionals. May not be easy in such a cold environment. Cold [50s] today and still too much wind. Most officials wore gloves yesterday.

I recalculated the predictions last night. Some individuals have not participated this year in the event they are scheduled for [esp in the 5K races]. For these, I went back to the 2014 Indoor, 2013 Outdoor, and the 2013 Indoor results to see if I could find some data. I then updated the projections:

MEN:
Texas A&M – 129.5
Arkansas – 121.5
Florida – 107.5
Georgia – 86.5
Kentucky – 68.33
Alabama – 57.5

WOMEN:
Arkansas – 129.6
Florida – 120.5
Texas A&M – 113
Kentucky – 102.6
Georgia – 87.33
LSU – 71.33

Another disappointment for the Aggies. Laque Moen-Davis fails to make long jump finals. Jennifer Madu makes the finals but Laque has jumped so much further and could have been in contention for the title.
Kentucky ladies are doing very well at home in all events. It seems like the weather is not affecting them.
