Training camp starts today, Spezza and Hemsky are now on board, and opening night is less than a month away.

One of the most anticipated seasons in recent memory and it can't get here fast enough! I'll be doing my best to cheer on the boys from College Station

Pre-game info and press conference. The coach's enthusiasm was overwhelming. He makes even Mark Cuban look like naptime at the Shady Creek retirement home.

Wish I could make it tonight. I went to the practices/scrimmage on Saturday. Lot of things to be excited (now and in the future). But really, I'm just glad hockey is back.

BTW, they're streaming tonight's game on dallasstars.com (but only if you're in Texas).

Watching the game right now. Pretty awesome they actually went ahead and did the online stream.

FWAppraiser-how was going to training camp? Anyone stick out or do anything worth noting?

Training camp was pretty cool. Not a ton of people. Goligoski and Roussel weren't in the groups scrimmaging. They came out and sat close to us. I told my son who they were and he walked up to them and basically outed them (they were hiding in hoodies), but they were super cool and signed his hat/took pics with him.

Rynnas looked great in net. I'd be surprised if he's not the backup coming out of camp.

Jokipakka and Klingberg looked good at D. I think they'll both get a shot at some point this season. I was NOT impressed with Oleksiak (and I really want to be).

Trevor Daley stood out (he scored a pretty sweet goal). Spezza is as good as advertised. Benn (Jamie) took a spill into the boards (knee first) and had me holding my breath. He was fine, fyi.

That's all I've got, off the top of my head.

They announced an attendance of 14,567 tonight. That's impressive. My ticket rep told me they are way ahead in full and half season ticket sales too. Looks like people are getting back on the bandwagon.

Thanks for the update! I agree with you on the Oleksiak topic after watching the first game. I want to get excited about him but Jokipakka just outplayed him all night. I known it's just one game but I wouldn't be surprised to see Jokipakka getting a solid opportunity to make the roster

Have to agree with you on that one. Kari is scheduled to play the full game tonight against Tampa which means he probably ruined his biggest opportunity. Best chance he has left is for Lindback to completely collapse which I don't see happening.

Hopin the power play turns the corner this year. Could solidify us in the upper echelon.

Really encouraging signs on the power play.
On a darker note, looks like Kari has a mild concussion. Can that guy ever stay healthy? Hopefully he's fully recovered by next Thursday.

Kari is cleared to play, but it looks like Gonchar will be out for a while.

Good news (finally) on the Dillon front. He and the team have agreed to a one year $1.25 million deal.
This gives Dillon arbitration rights next summer. I originally thought it would make him unrestricted then. Guess not.

Good to hear he'll be here for the whole season. Hopefully next summer they'll be able to iron out a long term contract. Either way we got the final piece of the puzzle this year!

Hockey is back! Looking forward to a good Stars season.

I never wish injury on any player but.....are we really disappointed that Gonchar is gonna be out? Hes way over the hill.

I'm more disappointed that he wasn't traded.

But at this point, I don't care. Hockey season is here!

I've been wearing my Seguin t-shirt around campus today and getting strange looks. I guess I never truly realized how clueless some of the Houstonians are to hockey
