We really need to acquire a dependable, solid backup. I like the situation that Winnipeg has in Hutchinson and Pavelec. Having a solid reliable backup takes alot of pressure off of the coaching staff and Kari himself. I feel Kari would be a lot more focused and cut down the soft goals if he could have a few nights off, which he can't have because of the hesitancy by the coaching staff in regards to not losing games!

Yeah I'll admit it was pretty convenient. I'm still of the opinion that goaltending is a huge issue. Kari is clearly past his best years which is sad to say with his lack of focus and confidence. As for the relief effort by Lindback, he didn't allow the equalizer so props to him I guess. Stars have a better chance at winning games win either goalie allows 2 goals a game, not in the same night though. 9 out of 10 times the Stars are gonna lose a game in which they give up 4 goals, most teams will.


With Brian Elliot coming back from injury in St. Louis, Martin Brodeur is on the outside looking in. Hopefully he decides he still wants to play out the rest of this season which would be a great deal for a team like the Stars. He's more than a proven veteran who may be over the hill but can't be any worse than what we have. Brodeur would bring a few more fans to games and hopefully provide the cliche "veteran presence" to help pull Kari out of his funk. I know the Stars tried this in the past with Tim Thomas but Martin Brodeur is in another class of his own in regards to his status and ability. Plus, Brodeur seems to be a straight shooter in regards to what he wants and his expectations which could help in negotiating a reasonable salary figure for the remainder of the season.

Another hypothetical thought that I feel could tide the Stars over in regards to goaltending until the end of the season when it can be addressed a little deeper. I also realize that goaltending is not the single problem with the team, just throwing it out.

Going to the game vs the Jets tomorrow so hopefully we can get an important divisional win!

True "goalie win" for Boston tonight. I was there. There were plenty of Bruin fans, but not close to the majority. Rask was great. Stars had great chances to score, but chances don't give you points in the standings. Gotta put some in no matter who's in net. If you'd told me two months ago that we would be 3 (maybe 5 after tomorrow, but hopefully not) points out of the postseason at the break, I would take that in a heartbeat.

And a three game roadie to Montreal, Ottawa, and Winnipeg will be tough. I'd really like to see us pick up at least 4 of 6 possible points, although the battered Star syndrome in me says we will get 2-3 points instead.

Ottawa isn't that great. They have a chance to win that. Montreal played Nashville hard last night so that might be a tough game. Same with Winnipeg. Just depends which Stars team shows up.
