Centre Court is the one everyone wants, and I thought she would play there because of the #1 seed, but No. 1 Court is also a great court with a large capacity and is almost as grand. It is a very nice consolation. After all, it is STILL Wimbledon.

Maya Joint is even better than advertised.

Won Eastbourne today in impressive fashion and is up to #41 in the world - she'll pass #36 Stearns soon. Her movement is incredible and she plays big points without fear. Crazy that she was considering college.

To make this Aggie related - Carson beat her 6-2, 6-3 in February.

I am impressed. Really impressed. WOW.

A bit of nerves in the first set but played pretty well.

The second set she went toe to toe with one of the best players in the world. Had some great serves, great returns and made some great shots. That has to be a huge boost to her confidence. I CAN do well at this level !!! I just have to play that well every set and I CAN play that well in every set with just more practice, more matches, etc.

Her opponent has done really well in Grand Slams the past few years. She has played and beaten some of the best players in the world many times. Experienced enough not to panic. But I wonder if, during the second set, she wondered to herself - 'who IS this girl ???".

The crowd, many who probably came to watch the #1 seed and expected a blow out, ended up seeing some great tennis in the second set !!!

Great match, Carson !!!!!!!!!!

Family and coaching team/trainers/etc can sit in a players box and now all players are allowed to interact with them during matches (a change in rules within just the last year or two). Some younger players will hire coaches just for major tournaments like this if they don't have a full-time coach, so could have been any of the above.

If she hadn't had those few easy shots she missed early on, she would have gotten comfortable quicker. Tough to not have nerves.

The talk about her saying she was close to quitting and giving herself ultimatums was wild.

The commentators said early on that she seemed nervous due to who and where she was playing, etc. But as the match progressed, the same people warmed up to her as did the fans on an extent. She gave a good account of herself and has nothing to be ashamed of. Didn't realize that she grew up in Orange County and moved around after that. Glad she popped up with us as that shines a bright light on our program.

A great payday for Carson.

It's really great for tennis that the payout for qualifiers and the earlier rounds in tournaments have increased quite a bit over the years, especially on the women's side. It can be a very expensive sport and this allows a lot of really good players to keep playing the sport they love even though most of them never win big tournaments or even advance past the first couple of rounds in them. One of the big advantages is that players can start affording quality coaches, eventually having one full time. Success breeds success.

NCAA team title in 2024.
Wimbledon main draw against the world #1 in 2025.

Keep it going, Carson! She can win at this level. That second set level would have beaten 80%+ of the draw.

Nice to see her happy at the end. She's made a ton of new fans!

Gosh dang. Not only is she a world class tennis player, she's educated, she's super smart, is a gourgeous model, works hard, makes her own money and probably will start getting some sponsorship $$$ too. Geez, think she'll let me be her western regional marketing manager? Even though I'm a fairly decent pickle ball player I can't coach her in tennis. Where she playing next?

Thanks for posting. Some great pics and quotes.

I noticed the Stella Artois patch on one of the photos. Would be a great regular sponsor to have. When I lived in Germany I lived fairly close to Belgium and enjoyed their beers several times. In addition to several great German beers, too, of course, in addition to those of other European countries!

I think she got a few one day sponsors since she was on a main court in a big first round opponent match. Very common with newer players
