Poo, Just go slap yourself with your own poo, we didn't say that the twists and turns of the story are common sense. We are saying its common sense to assume that you will find out who the dagger came from, not the twist behind it.

Poo just wants the answer NOW and only has enough information to show himself a fool.

BTW the tournament was very, very, very, very...lackluster.

Gregor Clegane should have been the biggest bloke they could find like the French guy from Sherlock Holmes or the freak of nature in 300...who I believe were the same...

The guy playing Gregor is gigantic...he's 7 ft 320. And that was just day 1 of the tourney.

Thanks Aggiebame,

Another question. Why did Tommy Carcetti (Littlefinger... sorry, he's gonna remain Tommy Carcetti to me for a long time) tell that story to the princess about the one brother burning the other's face. What was the point? He was being really weird about it, then basically said dont say anything or else they will kill you.

It seemed like he had an ulterior motive and I guess the answer might be a spoiler but I was just confused by that whole exchange.

Also what the hell is Hodor? Did I miss that?

To add further perspective to that picture, I believe that's former WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie he's standing next to.

She's 6' 5".

I thought the story about the Hound was awkward, too. In the books the Hound tells that story himself. No one else knows how he burned his face besides his family. I'm not sure for the reason for that change.

YES the thing about the origin of the knife being revealed in book 3 is a spoiler - I am halfway through book 2 and was thinking I might learn the knife's owner in this book.

So thanks to the jackhole on this thread who saw the need to tell us that it will be revealed in book 3, I now know that I won't see it in book 2 like I was thinking.

Is it impossible to have a thread that is solely about the tv show?

The knife is not really anything to focus on because it is just a mechanism. There is a plot developing here. This series is not a game of Clue.

It actually bothered me a little bit that they changed it. I can't figure out why they did that. I sorta felt sorry for the hound at that point in the book, but having Littlefinger tell Sansa the story in the tv version did nothing for me.

The ratings for the show have gone up the past two weeks in the US & UK. Bodes well for the show's future. I was a little worried that they might lose some of their budget if it didn't get good ratings. I'm also expecting that the next couple episodes, which have been tabbed as some of the best, will increase the ratings even more.

It is weird because that was actually meant to be the Hound telling the story to Sansa. He does it because Sansa was being proper and praising Gregor for his victories on the day to the Hound while they were walking alone back to the castle at night. The Hound hates his brother and anything to do with knighthood so he told Sansa what type of person Gregor really is, and how he purposely put that joust into the knights neck because he left it open to attack. It was actually a point where the hound shows what little of his human side he has left when he talked about his face being burned off, and

*POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR THE INCREDIBLY PICKY PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD, BUT NOT REALLY*

because he confides in her it is a part of the development a small relationship between the two.

apparently HBO is also doing a special on HBO-Go where you can watch episode 7 using that service immediately after episode 6 airs. it's part of a promotion for HBO-Go but i think it'll also help maintain that strong GoT viewership

Count me as another who is done with this thread. As in the Lost threads, half the fun of this board is spit balling ideas and asking questions without having people who already intimately know the story shoot down everything left and right.

And yes, the knife bit was a spoiler. It did not reveal the party responsible; however, the comment implied that we would have no resolution this season. Keep in mind that the last thing the audience saw was Lady Stark taking Tyerion under arrest because the knife supposedly came from him and tied him to the murder. And now we know that we are two whole books from knowing who the knife came from, and that it is going to implicate a number of characters.

I just don't understand why we need that kind of information on a thread for people that haven't read the books.

Again, I didn't read the books, but...

perhaps juset hearing the story will have Sansa still sympathetic to Hound making a relationship still possible to whatever degree is pliable. Remember that the writer of the books works on the show so I'm sure he's planning for these little contingencies.

In regards to the "HBO won't do all 7 books" comment earlier, that means one of 2 things will happen...a) You're wrong and they will based on how the show rates in upcoming seasons, or b) they imply things that happen in the books between season and catch the viewers up when the new season starts. I hope they do all 7 that way I can enjoy the story as a whole as well as watch some of you bicker and internet fight for years.

I understand (and agree) that spoilers, intentional or not, absolutely suck. And if it causes people to not read threads like these, I don't blame them.

With that said, nothing has been spoiled with any of the knife talk. After finishing the first book, I accidentally came across a MAJOR spoiler yesterday that may have ruined the rest of the series, and although I'm legitimately concerned about that, I'm still excited enough to keep reading the last few books. The knife is child's play compared to the real spoilers that are out there if you're not careful.

******* I'm putting a spoiler alert here even though I don't actually believe that this is one, especially now that the knife has already been brought up *********

Don't worry about the knife or what may or may not have been spoiled with that earlier post. You're still in good shape, story-wise. As someone else pointed out, the knife is simply part of a much bigger picture. Think of it as just one more piece of information that helps ruffle feathers and turn houses against each other. It's just one of several.

I think you guys should stick with the thread, and the rest of us should be ultra careful with what we say. But as of right now, no permanent damage has been done.

i apologize for any potential spoilers i've said, i'm really not trying to ruin it for you guys. i freaking love the story and the world that martin has created and i love talking about it so stuff like that slips out

also, what gramercy said. the dagger is an extremely minor plot device compared to some of the twists and turns that the series still has in store, so if you feel you've been spoiled trust us when we say that you most likely won't care a couple books (or seasons) down the road.

but even so, i'll try to be more tight-lipped, just in case

People say they can't do all 7 because the 7th book won't come out until some time in the 2020's at the rate the author is going.

What some don't get and what I tried to point out several pages ago is that it's not up to you to decide what is a spoiler or what is not.

There is an entire thread for those of us who have read the book and want to post "spoilers," why not just keep your thoughts to that thread instead of deciding for everyone what is and what is not a spoiler?

interesting that you use the singular form of "book", which is what I assumed when I glanced at the other thread for all of 30 seconds after finishing Game of Thrones. We need to make sure people understand that the other thread is quite obviously for people who have read ALL of the books, as in that one 30-second period I saw an abbreviation/equation that I fear may have spoiled a very significant storyline for me.

I'll get over it, but I won't be going back to that thread again. And I don't think anyone else should if they haven't finished all of the books. I incorrectly assumed that the spoilers in that thread would apply to the first book only. Huge mistake.

That kind of info makes this knife issue seem kind of silly.

1. There's more whining about spoilers than discussion going on. Seriously?

2. It's really not hard to limit yourself to info only revealed on TV. People complaining about spoilers may be annoying, but there are two other threads for a reason.

3. Hodor.

4. Littlefinger is wonderfully slimy.

Im with PooDoo on the spoilers.

Telling us that you really like a character is fine, but implying that a specific character will be around in book 3 is a spoiler. That tells me I don’t have to worry about a specific character getting killed no matter the situation they are in. Just because a story line has no consequence does not mean that I cannot find that out on my own. There is a very famous episode of the Sopranos which contains a storyline that is never finished. It is teased but never resolved. Fans of the show will know what I am talking about. I would hate to have that inconsequential storyline ruined for the rest of the series as I wondered when it would be concluded. Waiting for the answer is part of the fun even if that answer never comes.

Saying that a characters relationship will grow implies that character will be around for a while. I don’t want to know that especially after one of the first posts on this thread is a warning not to get too attached to any characters.

Im pretty well versed in the Sopranos, The Wire and LOST and I think first time viewers of those shows would hate to see me talking about something is season 4 when it applied to a character in season one that will have many opportunities to get killed off. It ruins the journey and while the destination might be great the journey is why we watch the show.

I'm sure we will all get called out for crying but I would hate to have a discussion with first time views ruined because minor spoilers are still spoilers to us.
