Agreed on Brienne. They did a great job with her. Can't wait to see her in action.

Anyone else worried we will actually see Brienne's tits in the bathing scene....

well maybe an unattractive naked woman in the show will stop any "sexism" talk that some critics of the first season brought up

Looks like King Renley stole the Bayeaux Tapestry from the Normans.

Back to beating a dead horse, I just remembered one more major clue that Tyrion is a Targ (and actually the first thing that really got me thinking he was at the time). He gulped in a ton of that water and has had no sign of Greyscale. Targs remember have very strong immune systems and don't really get sick. At the same time Connington barely touched the water and has Greyscale.

Targs get sick, and they get burned. Dany thinks she's immune to fire and illness - and appears to be, to some extent - but that is NOT a definitive Targ trait. Prince Daeron Targaryon dies of disease, as just one example.

plus viserys died of molten gold, so of course they're not all immune to heat & fire

Not all, just the dragons. Not all Targs are created equal and the genes clearly bounce between generations.

She sat in a pyre for hours and came out unburnt, I dare say its a little more than "thinking shes immune to fire."

As I said, Dany does appear to be immune to fire and illness to some extent. But it's not a definitive Targ trait. It could be a Dragonrider trait - we don't know yet. But Tyrion not getting grayscale is not evidence that he's a Targaryon. It could mean he's a Dragonrider, possibly.

jenn,

All Dragonriders are Targs, or at least Valyrian. The real key is there is no definitive proof of anything until it is revealed but you can put together circumstantial evidence and make an assumption. Immunity is a Targ/Dragonrider trait but it doesn't mean that Tyrion is one. The fact he didn't get greyscale or the Pale Mare is circumstantial evidence to that though. I don't think he has had a chance to say if he has fire immunity of any kind but that would also be dropping a little too heavy of a hint for a guy like Martin who likes to keep you guessing.

The fire resistance / immunity thing is why I think Jon isn't a Dragonrider and maybe isn't R+L=J. He burned his hand.

Question: If Jon is AA, does that preclude him from being a dragonrider (or more specifically, one of the 3 heads of the dragon)? Because it sure looks like he going to be AA.

I would think that AA takes on the Dragonriders; in the end all be all. Winter is now here and AA banishes winter? or something, but the dragons most def. don't really represent winter well, it'd almost be a three headed issue.

Winter
Dragons/dragon riders/tragaryans
AA

The end all be all battle puts all those three in a fight together... only one can come out on top?
RDV-1992

I think it would be AA (fire) vs others (ice) with dragons thrown in to disrupt things. Either that or AA + dragons (fire) vs. others (ice).

It has to be Hodor. He is the man.

I dont think it comes down to magic versus magic, or gods vs gods.

GRRM said he loved Tolkien because the magic is always side-lined to the human(oid) interactions. Why wasnt Gandalf fireballing orcs instead of using a sword?

Magic/gods only supplement a persons actions, it doesnt define their destiny. LOTR was good vs bad, here we have 7 houses with claims and schemes no real antagonist or protagonist.

More questions:

Does AA have to be the Prince that was Promised?

If so, does the Prince that was Promised have to be the child of a Targaryen? Or could he be the heir to the King of the North? I think it could be the latter, because the original AA was a hero of the First Men who defeated the others, and the only place where Andals didn't supplant the First Men / Children was in the North. Plus, where better than the North for Azor Ahai to be reborn? That's right where they need him. This also ties into Robb (maybe) willing the North to Jon (maybe totally, maybe just as regent) in the event of his death.

Answer to part of my questions:

BillOnCapitolHill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Smoke and salt and a rebirth is required...many speculate the salt requirement means the sea

Tyrion traveled over salt water and passed too close to by the fire and smoke of Valyria only to become a slave. The true heir to Casterly Rock has lost all his means and he is being reborn from nothing.

Its a stretch. But so are all these theories.

That guy may be the biggest d-bag in the history of the Entertainment board, as I'm pretty sure he's either read the books or read a wiki and is passing spoilers off as his own "theories."

Which if he is, is just completely pathetic.

Wow, I wish I had came across this gem sooner so I could have defended myself against the claim that I'm the "biggest d-bag in the history of the Entertainment board".

I didn't start reading the books until after the show ended, and I never once looked at a wiki page, EVER. If I remember correctly, I made 9 predictions in that post that quoted me, and only 3 were correct, and of those 3, the predictions that Dany would bide her time and Tyrion would wreck **** was ****ing obvious. The Rob is gonna die prediction was based on him being the agressor with a small army and the fact that posters kept saying nobody was safe, and I didnt trust Theon because unlike the book, the show goes out of its way to make him seem shady. The only prediction I had help on was the one about Jon's lineage, and that was only because my sister, who had read the books, told me her theory that Jon was half wolf, half dragon, but that theory isn't even proven yet.

So kindly stfu.

I don't think the show does a good job of depicting Theon as shady util after you read the books. I never noticed his small parts or the things they said about him until I had read all four books and know his past, researching they do make mention that he is the ward and he is rightful heir to the salt throne, and that he is dangerous.
BillOnCapitolHill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
After book 1 I was sure Theon would ally himself (and the Iron Islands) with Robb. Sure there were those words from Robb when Theon saved Bran, sure Ned didnt treat him as a son, but I think the biggest factor in his decent to the dark side was his loss of succession (or perceived loss of succession) from Balon.

He was a ward, a slave. The only thing he had going for him was being a Lord; not only that but being the Seaborn King. If Asha or Victarion or whoever had a better claim, what status does that put Theon in? Hand of Robb? (Probably not) Servant to the Lord of Pike? (Probably, but he would have no castle or seat) Thus he had to pay the iron price.
