Do you guys think that Chris Mannix was actually the new sheriff of Red Rock like he said? Or was he making that up? Or does it even matter at all?

I think QT missed a great opportunity to have Mannix say "Excuse me while I whip this out."

I think he might have been since at the end he was giving out the sentence to the chick about hanging from the neck until dead

I liked it but rank it below Fiction, Basterds, Dogs, and Django

SLJ did not disappoint. The guy delivers QT's lines like a champ.

***** minor spoiler ******
Lee Horsley is listed in the credits as "ED." I don't remember an Ed character. Maybe the outlaw's stagecoach driver?

Saw in 70mm ant it was awesome. I'd like to k ow what was cut for the regular movie.

Also ripped off The Thing. People stranded together in one location, due to blizzard, need guide lines, some aren't what they seem, set to an ominous Ennio Morricone score, where they all ed uo killing one another, featuring Kurt Russell.

Saw it in 70mm last night and loved it. Long movie but flew by. Loved the intermission as well.

Haven't seen this, but i've read lots of reviews that absolutely hate it. The complaints I read most are:

1. Tons of dialogue in a cabin, no action.

2. Said dialogue is not witty or intrigueing, but boring.

3. Oral sex scene.

4. Over the top gore and vulgarity.

I realize some of these are styles used by QT, but does he ever want to try something different.

I absolutely loved Pulp Fiction when I saw it, and made it a point to see QT movies since, but none have ever gotten close to it. Django was okay, but.... It just seems he's more interested in making stylish statements than in making a great movie. The end bloodfest in Django was just ridiculous to me. Suspense was traded for rivers of blood and gore (and horrible aim from Django's assailants).

Maybe I just don't "get" it.

I will admit that I didn't care for the bj revenge story, although it was one of the few instances that allowed the 70 mm to be showcased.

I was so hungry. It wasnt as good as Django but fun anyway. It felt a bit slow before intermission.

I enjoyed it, would put it somewhere in the middle of Tarantino's films, but I'm a pretty big fan of his. He is one of those directors that I will go to the theater for no matter what the movie is. I really liked the claustrophobic feeling of the cabin and agree that it would easily translate to live theater. The score was fantastic. I liked Django better just because I felt like this one took a while to really get going, but definitely was still worth seeing this one on the big screen.

If not, I think he would have confessed as they lay there dying, RD-style.

I thought it was good. I love his slow place and the dialog. The gore was present really only a couple of times... boy does he love having bits of brain and skull sprayed all over stuff!

Lots of great performances. Put it around the middle of his films.

It was QT's art flick (well, most art centric flick). Did I enjoy it as much as his last two? No. Was it still a great movie? No question. No one writes dialogue like Tarantino. All of his lighting is "borrowed" from Scorcese, but few directors can pull off at 2:47 movie with only 2.5 sets. He certainly did. First 90 minutes are all about characters. The last 80 are all who dun it and action. I'll be watching it again soon.

PS - QT has his own mixture of blood that he uses in his films. Funny stuff.

I really tried to like this movie but the gratuity of the racial slurs really got to me. I understand it's a time piece set in the post civil war era but at some point the dialogue can move forward without interjecting that type of garbage every scene. It bugged me and honestly made me feel uncomfortable. (And I bet someone will call me a "liberal Poon" or something for this opinion.)

*Spoiler*
Having said that, I thought the actual story had a lot of potential and intrigue but the end just didn't do anything for me. Kinda made the whole movie somewhat pointless. Idk what I was hoping for but the scope of the movie seemed very narrow.

Was thinking the whole time, "man, these movies need an intermission." I'm shocked to see that there actually was an intermission for many of you. I could have used one.

Like someone said earlier, I don't understand why they listed Channing Tatum in the opening credits. It kind of ruined his otherwise surprise entrance.

I felt like the oral sex scene/story was unnecessary and seemed out of place.

This didn't seem to have a memorable scene that stood out like in other QT movies.

I think that was the attempt at the big, memorable scene for this one... For me personally, it was a miss.

Still loved the movie though.
