We need to hear more, officially, but the tide seems to be turning for Majors...

Time to crank those US Army commercials back up. Those were cool.

erik voss just posted a video about 12 hours ago discussing some different things about the new deadpool movie......and i gotta say while nobody knows exactly what's going to happen there's been plenty of ideas thrown around and he discusses some possible ones that make it sound like there's potential for this dang thing to be bigger or at least on the same level as No Way Home / 1st Avengers Movie / possibly even Infinity War with regards to who we're going to see on screen....

he also goes into some of the crap that gets thrown around as speculation and some things not to listen to....

honestly i was already excited for this film but dang if even 50% of what he said ends up on screen this is going to blow peoples minds....

Ryan Reynolds is on quite a roll.

That was interesting.

A Deadpool movie that pokes fun at the MCU and Fox Marvel films but plays off the whole multiverse thing with cameos like Dr Strange 2 or The Flash would be awesome.

And if they do play up the whole Statue of Liberty thing...I hope we get a Deadpool reference to this...

And now shots fired from the other side once more. This is pretty damning…

Whats telling is that even after the video footage they didn't drop the charges against him, they charged her too. Its possible they were BOTH violent but this whole thing reeks of trying to play whatabout her instead of actually proving he's innocent.

That Rolling Stone article is garbage investigative journalism. All but one source is anonymous, even the corroborated, friend-of-friend, secondary sources. The only person on the record is an ex from when Majors was a teenager. There is no clear "pattern of 'extreme abuse'" and emotional abuse is not illegal, it just makes you a ****head.

That being said, the method acting defense makes him seem like a guy that covers up being a dick because he's "acting."
Quote:

But those who've worked with him say his Method acting went far beyond what was typical and created an atmosphere where some felt unable to do their jobs out of fear of Majors' lashing out at them.
Plus, the guy is probably suffering from roid-rage issues.

Given Rolling Stones history with sexual assault stories, I will need much more evidence to be convinced of their story's accuracy.

The below is such a great point. More than anything about those first few years of the MCU, I remember being so stoked for certain characters to finally meet and interact. Yes, it helped that we knew it was all eventually leading to Thanos, and that the movies felt more connected in general than they do now. But man, I just remember being on the edge of my seat thinking, for instance, how is Tony going to react to so-and-so? Or what will be the thing that finally gets these characters on the same page?

Now? There is absolutely none of that. Forget the overall aimlessness of the plots of phases four and five, there is ZERO anticipation of characters that we care about individually finally meeting each other, teaming up, clashing, etc. Hopefully that changes with the introductions of the Fantastic Four, Blade, etc, and heck, even Deadpool. Just anything that injects some new life into the franchise and ignites that spark of seeing/anticipating characters all eventually interacting...

I think people also need to realize that it's not 17 years ago and things change and what people want to see changes. I think a lot of people are just kind of sick of comic book movies in general. The strange thing isn't that the MCU has fallen off, but that the MCU was successful to begin with.

Bad take.

You had a built in audience with Gen X when comic books hit their stride. We are all Jonesing for adaptations of comics we grew up with. Bonus was that it was extremely well done because it was made by Gen X dudes.

help me understand why would anyone pass on something like this??

The MCU is bigger than Star Wars right now why pass on a film that contains a very popular part of Marvel?

Sure the other F4 films sucked but they weren't in the hands of the MCU…so why pass on it??? Assuming that tweet is actually accurate….

Just my opinion, seems like Marvel is a sinking ship right now, and the big stars don't want to hitch their wagons to it right now because it looks like it might collapse under its own weight. This thread is full of analysis on this topic so I won't attempt to rehash it here.

Bottom line: Robbie and Driver turning down these roles doesn't bode well for the MCU moving forward, imo.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

I just think that not everyone wants to be tied to a franchise for the next however many years. And both of them just got done with that.

ETA: Well established actors don't need something like a Marvel or Star Wars to make their name. Young, up and coming actors see this as the way to really launch their careers.

I'm honestly surprised either of them considered it at all (if in fact they did) since they both already came from a big cinematic universe. Less of an MCU thing and more of a, why would you want to go back to that well? They're in the prime of their careers and have never been more famous - they don't need a 5-movie contract.

I also think they're both a little too big for the roles. The Superman casting from the other day felt about right for those roles. I think I prefer it when a villain or side character is a recognizable name but the main hero is an up-and-comer. Like not knowing Chris Hemsworth yet but knowing Anthony Hopkins. That way I'm just seeing Reed Richards and not "let's see Adam Driver's take on Reed Richards."

Edit: Dave beat me to it

This.

Plus, cast members like Elizabeth Olsen have kind of sort of been subtly sh*t-talking Marvel as of late, be it warning future actors not to sign multi-picture deals, or commented on how disorganized and chaotic the creative process has been.

As for Robbie and Driver, specifically, Robbie has already done the superhero thing with Harley Quinn, has a massive emerging franchise in Barbie, and is starring in a 60s-set Ocean's Eleven prequel next year. She's good on franchises, never mind the fact that this always felt beneath her anyway. While Driver of course already did three Star Wars movies, and his latest attempt at sci-fi - 65 - bombed, then vanished into the ether.

That, and some of these actors like Driver simply don't want to do blockbuster fare anymore, especially if they've already had their fill. They'd much rather work with auteurs and make dramas/Oscar movies.

I am so excited for this movie! Sounds like the powers to be said screw it we're going out with a bang on this last one (assuming it's the last one).

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Mickey Mouse himself showed up in this film somehow and RR shoots him

I mentioned a few weeks ago that The Flash broke me in terms of the multiverse, and that I have zero desire to continue down the multiversal path (paths?) in the MCU. That said, I will absolutely make an exception here. If played strictly for laughs it can be hilarious, and is the perfect kind of fodder for a Deadpool movie. Could be one for the ages.

Or, that was the bomb that finally caused him to say "enough."

Seriously, though, yes, most of these stars will always want/need the big paycheck from time to time. I guess it just depends on how long they want to go between them.

i think the point is that those Daredevils/Elektras are from the "Fox Universe", as is Deadpool, so they can take the piss out of them with witout soiling the MCU version.
