Ok. This looks fun!

So they flood me with shows that aren't always up to snuff, then raise the prices, and I finally pull the plug.

And a week later, drop a trailer for something that actually excites me a bit.

I could see Pascal playing a Reed Richards far too engrossed in his work at times while Sue has to keep the team grounded.

So that means Pascal would have the following on his resume...

Star Wars
Game of Thrones
Last of Us
DCEU
MCU

Straight up nerd royalty, alongside Andy Serkis.
Shame on you for forgetting his breakout role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Eddie Munson as the Torch actually makes me pretty happy.

I can only assume Ebon Moss-Barchach is the love child of Randy Moss and Burt Bachrach.

If they don't have some kind of crazy Multiverse cameo where Steve Rogers encounters the Human Torch and has a "Templeton Peck from the A-Team" seeing the Cylon Raider at Universal Studios moment, I'm going to be really bummed.

I honestly don't know much about acting abilities, but it seems like Kirby has the talent to play a de facto F4 leader, especially when Reed is absorbed in his work. I'm guessing that's the direction the MCU will go at least.

Sue Storm is reportedly the lead of the movie, so I could definitely see this being the case.

The prospects for this cast were looking dicey there for a while, but I have to admit, Pascual and Kirby make for a damn good duo. Throw in Moss-Bachrach and Quinn for all the Stranger Things and The Bear heads, and I'm pretty psyched for this cast overall.

This cast sounds great, but I still can't bring myself to care about the Fantastic Four. I wonder why Hollywood seems so hung up on rebooting FF time and time again.

Mostly for the villains: Mole Man, Blastaar, Dragon Man... all the big names

The first reboot seemed desperate for sure, but in this case I at least understand Feige wanting to take his shot, now that the property is under his watch and the characters can interact with the rest of the MCU.

Probably because they like a movie with a team in it and it's got the "something for everybody" archetypes - the leading man / smart guy; the hot chick; the young cocky guy; the muscle guy.

If they can pull it off and there's good chemistry, people will keep on showing up for whatever adventure you put them in.

Fingers crossed they use the Galactus version from the 1967 cartoon.

This is one of the main reasons comic fans are looking forward to their inclusion. There are several story arcs involving their team-ups with the X-Men and Avengers, which the MCU has yet to explore. The MCU also desperately needs DOOM.

Who is the kid at the start?
I think it's young Quill imbued with the Celestial powers of his Dad in the timeline where T'Challa becomes Starlord.

Freeze-framing the brief Thanos/Cap fight, it looks like Cap's vibranium arm shield from Wakanda knocks the time stone out of the Infinity Gauntlet.

I'm not a comics reader, but Doom and Magneto feel like the kind of recurring villains who could pop up again and again, similar to Loki.

That's some pretty out of the box casting for Johnny and Ben but I kinda dig it? And Ebon Moss-Bachrach did star in probably my favorite single episode of tv of the past year.

Intrigued to see Kirby as American, in the MI films her accent added to her mystique.

Holy ***** I was a huge A-Team fan but I don't think I've ever seen an episode of Battlestar Galactica. I'm maybe sort of vaguely aware that Dirk Benedict was in it (or rather I was before I looked it up just now on Wikipedia). I never got that gag from the credits until literally 90 seconds ago.

You're right; he's definitely that kind of villain. Without diving into spoiler territory, Doom plays a significant role in Secret Wars/Battleworld. If done right, he has the potential to become even more iconic than Thanos.

My brother and I have long kicked around the idea of doing a podcast about all our favorite sci-fi/fantasy books and shows and films, and one of the topics we always want to do is the awesome badness of late 70s / early 80s scifi with Battlestar and Buck Rogers that were a direct result of Star Wars' success. Those 2 shows combined crazy cameo roles by huge stars, some really fantastic actors mixed with teen heart throbs and some unreal ass, and some of the dumbest plots ever combined with the occasional incredible episode.

The F4 are great and have had some iconic writers over the decades, and iconic villains (best rogues gallery outside of Batman and Spider-Man, I'd say). Getting them right might be the ultimate challenge - and triumph, if successful - of the MCU.

Don't even focus on their powers because it's the least important things about them. It's the personalities and dynamics and bizarre storylines that make them great.

For example:
- Reed creating an inter-dimensional portal where he encounters a council of other Reeds, all of whom eventually abandoned their families because of the greater good.
- Reed and Doom using time travel devices to fight and travel back seconds at a time to counter each others' moves. Eventually they are arrested by the Time Variance Authority for abusing time travel!
- The Thing would team up with a different hero every month in "Marvel Two-in-One", a series that ran for nearly a decade. And it ruled. Thing is a top-5 Marvel character IMO. He's all heart.
- Johnny marrying Alicia Masters, only to find out eventually that she'd long since been replaced with a Skrull spy. And then falling in love with that Skrull!

The F4 comics brought us Galactus, Silver Surfer, Doctor Doom, Black Panther, the Inhumans, the TVA, the Frightful Four, Namor, the Kree and the Skrulls.

I won't flood this thread with a bunch of comics after this, but Hickman and Waid delivered excellent runs on Fantastic Four if people have any interest.

There isn't a perfect way to begin reading comics, but here are a couple of possible starting points. You can find them on Amazon, Marvel Unlimited (on App Store & Google Play), and many other places.

I'd be OK with Kirby and Joseph Quinn using their native English accents in the movie. Could be a fun twist.

Fantastic Four could a fun movie to introduce if they focus on the family. If they make live action Icnredibles movies, they'd do great.

Also, another great part of Fantastic Four is that they often find interesting ways to defeat enemies in the comics. Could be a good swerve for MCU to not always solve the problem of the movie by punching the bad guy harder.

I didn't have time to properly mock this tweet yesterday. I love that the person padded their post by telling us that if Pascal signs a contract with Marvel, the next step of the process would be Marvel announcing that he had signed.

If I remember right, Fox had to be actively using the characters or else they would lose the rights to them. So I think that was a factor.
