I should add Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.

The PSH movies reminded me of it. Really good movie and a couple quality sex scenes with Marissa Tomei

A few that the people on this board probably have heard of (since we are so sophisticated and wordly when it comes to movies), but don't get near enough attention:

Black Dynamite. Probably the funniest parody film after Airplane! Just so damn good.

Hero with Jet Li. A stunningly beautiful film.

Mr. Brooks. If you haven't seen this movie, you must. And don't read anything about it. Kevin Costner will blow you away.

REC. You may have heard/seen the US remake called "Quarantine" but the original Spanish version is better.

How a movie can be that violent and that dull still amazes me.

Shawshank!

I know I know! Everyone has ehard of it. However, when I went to watch it in the theater, nobody had heard of it or was talking about it. In fact, a buddy of mine and I were going to see something else that sold out. We instead, went to Shawshank. 3.5 hours later...we were both saying it was one of the best movies ever!

I'd heard of it - cuz I had read it or more specifically "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" the short story by Stephen King.

A lot of SK fans knew of it of course...a little surprised it was being made into a full length movie. And certainly not the typical SK genre....but Frank Darabont did a masterful job and other than changing Morgan Freeman's character from a white Irishman (hence "Red") to a black guy it was very very true to the story.

La Cage aux Folles, Wizards, Boy and his dog, Basket Case, Fantastic Animation Festival, the Cutting Edge, Once. The common theme no one was talking about these and the main theatres were not playing them very limited releases when I first saw them.

Really under the radar early 80s (but set in the 70s) college road trip movie. Had young Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson before they were stars. Tremendous 70s soundtrack. Vietnam war hanging over their young lives. Last blast road trip.

Think of it as a kind of a Linklater movie. It has that kind of vibe but smaller cast.

Perfect Texas feel. Yes it briefly involves tu but nothing really about the school. They depart from there across west Texas on a road trip to Marfa and big Bend area and the set of Giant for example.

Perfect college road trip movie. It has a small and devoted cult following including a group that gets together and follows the path in west Texas every few years.

The soundtrack was never released. Too bad. I have collected all the tracks myself in a playlist and burned to CD. It includes elton John, cream, steppenwolf, Carole king and also jazz like pat methany and Keith Jarrett and tejano like los lobos and some classical too.

Holy ****, I had totally forgotten about this movie! Stumbled across it in college and me and my friends fell in love with it right away. And you hit the nail on the head, it has that Linklater vibe for sure.
