Toby (the fat boyfriend) annoyed me at first, then i realized he was Tom Cleary from The Knick which was a badass job of acting.

But yes this is a great show and we're even watching it with the kids, there are a lot of good subtle teaching moments.

This is a surprisingly great show, wife and I just caught up and love it. Although being a Smallville fan, it's weird seeing Justin Hartley in a serious role

Liking the show a lot here as well. Exceeding my expectations thus far.

I love how much depth they are giving Kevin.

He isn't just a pretty boy.

And interaction between ghost dad and Randall?
Damn I cried.

Any reactions to last night's episode?

Mandy Moore is shocking me with how good she is in this. I just thought she was dim eye candy and she is fabulous.

And go Toby. Put Kate in her place.

Randall high as all get out was hilarious. Did you notice him just staring at the wall when the British hoar was leaving?

This is the best network show since Parenthood. And this is better.

Yep.

It is.

This is an amazing work of writing and acting.

My favorite episode so far. Really gave Kevin some depth last night. His character grew a ton.

Randall is still my favorite character. Probably my favorite on tv right now. (besides maybe dead dad) Love the actor. He was the best part of the OJ show as Darden, and he's been great on this. He's gonna hit it big (movies) real soon!!!

Kate is getting on my nerves a bit. I really hope she straightens that out and gets back with Toby. He's too funny not to have regularly in the show.

Whoa now. I really love This Is Us, but I am not ready to say it is better than Parenthood...

this show is so good on a lot of levels. the clothing and set design for the 70s and 80s are pretty spot on. Characters are great and I care for them.

I'm sure we can relate on how our childhood made us the folks we are today and I wonder how my grown kids reflect on their own childhood.

Floodgates will open when we find out how\when the Dad passes.

The only detail that is bothering me, is all the "NYC scenes" are clearly shot in Southern California. The cabin in last nights episode looked like the hills of Los Angeles not rural upstate New York. I do think that that cabin was also the cabin from Parks and Rec.

I couldn't tell it was California. Looked like the mountains somewhere. That would bother me if I knew the difference between the two.

Eh. There's an entire street/neighborhood that's in SoCal that's nothing more than a big movie set. National Lampoon's Christmas was filmed there, and the house they used was the same house used for Bewitched. Margo's house? Ever see Lethal Weapon?

The cabin scenes and other outdoor scenes are so obviously California that it took me a while to realize Randall lived in New York.

Randall lives in New York.

Weren't the triplets born and raised in Pittsburgh?

Wasn't that where Randall's dad lived?

How did he get back to Pittsburgh and back in a few hours?

I'm confused on the geography.

I thought Russell's house is in New Jersey.

Newark to Pittsburgh is a 5 hour-ish drive.

I think the flashbacks look too 70s being they should all be 80s. Especially the ones set in '88.

I overlook that though and enjoy the show.

This show is totally unrealistic... There is no way Toby squeezed into a middle seat

jk... so great.... love the mix of laughs and fun with the heart strings and suicide jukes and romance on straight and gay and overweight levels...

Again, because the promotion of the gay agenda continues to be pervasive no matter what channel you tune to these days. For a segment that represents less than 3% of the population, the entertainment world portrays it in every single piece of work as if it's "the norm" or representative of 50% of the population.

It's not, so put me in the camp that is annoyed when this happens. To me, a great new TV show that has had me hooked for 10 episodes, now has given me a different feel and opinion.

So Randall, the adopted black son who was lied to by his mother, is all hell bent over her deception, but the first whiff he gets that his long lost and dying father is gay, well, he just grins and chuckles it off like it's no big deal (and so does his daughter). Yeah, that's a normal situation right there isn't it.

Sorry to derail this thread, but Hollywood isn't sorry that once again it has used a large TV platform to put forth an agenda. It's annoying, and a shame. That's all.

Not sure if there is a gay agenda or not.

I found it funny. Nothing more nothing less.

Perhaps if you didn't care you wouldn't have been brothered by it.

Get a grip. My god. Gay people exist. It's 2016 and most people accept them as fellow human beings hence the son and granddaughter "laughing it off".
Maybe get out of your bubble? The world can be a beautiful place if you stop looking at everything through your mad goggles.
