Just finished ep 7. Wow,that last scene between Marty and Wendy being honest with each other was fantastic.

I love this show but a couple things bother me. First, for people engaged in illegal activities, these people sure talk ALOT. Pretty much everyone in this show is like "Yeah? Well, we're money launderers for a cartel, and those people deal heroin, and I'll give you $700k". Doesn't anyone keep their g-d trap shut?! Second, this show is evolving at a fast pace. Perhaps I had come to love the slow burn of BB, but this one is bam bam bam, invest here, invest there, build a church, need money so convince that guy's mom to invest, etc. Think its a little too fast but I guess I can't blame them. It's either "do" or get your show canceled these days.

Through 5 episodes now. I love this show! The small things people here have been nitpicking don't bother me at all.

Oh - never change, Texags. There's always a handful of you guys that will scream from the mountain top "Liberal bias!" I don't let it bother me as much, but you guys gotta remember this is hollywood.

Laura Linney was FANTASTIC in this season.

*Episode 8 "Kaleidoscope" was my favorite, the way it unraveled was great. Really enjoyed seeing the backstory of Del and Bruce/Marty
*Agree with Bunk - the killing of Del is unfortunate. Wasn't totally pleased with how easily the Snells dismissed them killing him so quickly.
*I dunno why, but Mr Snell's accent bothers the hell outta me. Is that really a Missouri accent?!
*Ruth Langmore is a great character.
*I wish I owned a funeral home

Slanted politics were clearly injected into the show.. We were having a decent side discussion on how ridiculous it was and then in typical fashion the mockers came out.

The kid with down syndrome buying two fully automatic "assault rifles" (wish I knew where to get those) from the grocery store with stunning ease was beyond absurd and just sent the political signaling way over-the-top. Something that preposterous and insulting to the intelligence of many of the viewers might be discussed on an online thread dedicated to the show.

Your last post with all the images had nothing to do with the show or its plot. It's spam and useless only to the extent that it will inflame anyone on the opposite side of the political spectrum to comment and derail this thread. You're feeding into the problem, not rationally debating plot absurdities.

This. Commenting on the hilarity of the obvious biases at different points of the show is different from a soapbox venting about conservatism not getting equal bias in Hollywood.

But entering thread to mock people who have a problem with political agendas permeating a show is all good.

I'll try to ignore the troll next time. My bad. Post above deleted.

I found the accent curious as well. Plus, he reminded me of Ned Beatty and couldn't stop thinking about squealing pigs!

Did the conversation between Marty and Wendy about working for Del, seem rather light given the nature of the business to anyone else? They went from "no, we can't do that" to "why not?" really quickly. Sounded more like Marty was telling her he was going to buy a motorcycle for his mid-life crisis instead of doing something that could land them both in jail, or dead. I get that they were probably naive about it until Marty's predecessor was "fired" but it seems like a couple with 2 small children would have a bigger discussion than that.. What exactly was Wendy's motivation for being on board with that kind of risk? Money? Her wild side of breaking into homes has a girl? I think they have covered too much ground, and moved this story too fast to really develop some of these characters and storylines.

This was the major factor in my opinion. Her history of depression and having to do rather "extreme" things to gain any real sense of enjoyment or or pleasure.

just finished last night, thought it was well done. sure , there are some angles that leave you scratching your head, but overall good story.

Felt bad for the preacher and like others mentions, the scene with the baby, yikes.
the Schnells are not to be messed with. Marty is cool under pressure, wow!

The actor portraying Mr. Schnell does a great job imo...even if I can't figure out the accent. Well written and acted character. They really do hate the term "redneck". Also, his flippant comment about Mexicans made me laugh, I must admit.

With regards to the baby scene, that made me very uncomfortable. Protestant baptisms are obviously usually a quick dunk in the water but the baby was held under for what seemed like 10 seconds or so (maybe shorter, but seemed like an eternity). Was he trying to restore his faith in God or something? As in, "I'm going to hold my baby under water for much longer than I should if I bring him up and everything is ok, I'll take it as a sign from God and baptize him in the name of the lord, but if he's choking/dying when he comes up, there is no God"?

I may be overthinking it, but I'm trying to figure out what they were trying to convey with that scene.

Pretty sure it was a clear indication of his own internal struggle but also more of a ploy to create tension to the viewer.

Yep. He thought he was going to do the unthinkable, but backed off at the point he felt most vulnerable, and likely restored his faith at that very moment....but we all know it was for the audience to say "no way. NO. ****ING. Way. NO! "OHH my gosh. Ok. phew"

That was brutally tough to watch. Got very close to the "that's not necessary and actually this is way too much" line for me personally.

Same here...just too much. Hope they avoid this type of "shock value" stuff in the future. The show doesn't need it.

No. But then again I don't generally equate evil murderous cartel bosses with newborn babies.

Just finished it. Great show. Seems like what went down when Marty accepted Dell's offer initially would have given him a few second thoughts before he got fully into bed with him.

I'm sure it did but telling him "thanks but no thanks" at that point probably wouldn't have been a very wise decision.

At first I thought maybe she was reaching some electrical current and seizing up but maybe she was having some sort of panic attack. Hard to believe she just became exhausted and disoriented on the first lap. Maybe the writer/director know as little about swimming as they do about guns and gun laws?

I didn't understand it either so I googled it. Apparently that was a dream sequence? If so, I don't recall that being made clear. Anyways I guess the writers intended that scene to represent her inner turmoil as opposed to an actual life-or-death scare.

It was bizarre. The best I could come up with was it was supposed to represent how close Marty and his wife were to completely crumbling and losing it all, because it was juxtaposed with them fighting upstairs in the house, not paying attention and/or forgetting their daughter had gone to take a swim...because before she leaves the mom even says that it's too cold or something.

I think this - or some variation thereof - is the most likely explanation. All in all, looking back it was a pretty unnecessary interlude.

Literally just came on here to ask about the end of Ep 7, and see everyone had the same question.

What the **** was that about? She's drowning and suddenly she's fine? Made zero sense.

Also, knew the second the realtor's mom was standing on the corner she'd be run over. Kinda dumb and predictable. And awfully convenient.

Regarding the end of episode 7...wasn't it the first day of school? How did the lake go from party summer to cold enough to wear a wetsuit in just a few days?

And on episode 6 in the middle of summer they had football on the t.v.

Just a few minor things...
