This show got Kirsten Dunst and Creepy Todd Emmy nominations. I have faith.

Very excited - such a high bar to live up to but even if close I'll enjoy.

Watched season 1 and really enjoyed it, thought it was great. But Season 2? My favorite season of any show ever, I felt giddy watching it.

I had two weeks off at Christmas and mostly stayed around the house, so I got a rewatch of seasons 1 and 2 in. I was worried season 2 wouldn't be as great as I remembered, perhaps I watched too many episodes after adult beverages, or watched it at a specific moment in my life, and it wouldn't seem as good again.

No, no. That was some great *****

Season 3 was ok but I don't feel like rewatching. I should say good - still a good series - just didn't grab me like the other two.

Started rewatching from season 1. I remember it being good...but I forgot just how good. Malvo and Mike Milligan characters are so good! I forgot what a hilarious, sarcastic jerk Malvo was!

I just read they had only filmed 8 of the 10 episodes before getting shut down in March. I hope they are able to get those last 2 in - hope it doesn't impact the quality to have such a big break and maybe film in weird circumstances when restarting.

But I'm all in. It's Fargo.

The previews kinda look cheesy. Like sort of the way the "not great" Coen brothers movie previews look.

Also, I realize this is probably an unfair observation because you could easily pull 30-45 seconds of each of the first 3 seasons that would also look "cheesy".

Nice. I started a rewatch do the first 3 seasons with my wife last week. I talked it up to her back when they originally aired but she didn't watch with me. Just finished up season 1 and she loved it. (Told you so). Looking forward to watching seasons 2 and 3 leading up to the new season!

About time. If it's 50% as good as season 2 it'll still be awesome.

It looks like there will be two episodes that night.

Aggie football on a Saturday and then Fargo the next night. I've died and gone to heaven.

Watched ep 1 and I'm definitely intrigued, the prologue was really great.

Great guess! Will she and Rabbi Milligan come together as the season progresses?

Also, the nurse is obviously linked back to Fargo (or Minnesota). Anyone have any guesses as to who she is linked to?

It's not BAD, exactly.

Just all over the place.

Derivative of the Godfather movies, too much so.

Allusions to Raising Arizona: the escape of the two women; "We released ourselves on our own recognizance." To what effect?

Not impressed with Chris Rock so far.

Season 1 and Season 2 were excellent for many reasons, but one of them was that each had strong moral centers who stood out as rays of hope in the midst of the evil. Who plays that role this season? No one, yet.

I only watched the first episode and it certainly felt very Fargo-y, strong characters, imagery, some absurdism in a serious backdrop. If I had to guess a moral center after the one episode it would be the daughter narrating her story.

The period costumes and sets (cars!) were fun along with the the casting. I look forward to the series - for me personally it seems impossible to imagine surpassing season 2 but it could fall short of that and still be a great watch.

Not sure if the nod to the escape from Shawshank was a nice nod or weak writing...I lean towards the latter.

A couple of (perhaps dumb) questions:

1. Did Schwartzman's character indirectly instruct the nurse to kill his father or is she just psycho and did it on her own? After watching the second episode I think it's the latter but not sure if he pretty much told her to when they were in the pharmacy room.

2. We're to believe the black teenage girl who did the opening monologue is biologically half white? Or did I totally miss something and the white dude is actually her stepfather? Feel like they should've cast someone a bit lighter skinned but not a huge deal.

Yeah, they're all self contained story lines. The only thing you'll miss out on are some easter eggs connecting the other seasons together.

I have the exact question. I thought it was clear he told her to do it, but apparently she does this sort of thing all the time.

Agreed, but worth noting that s1 and s2 tie into each other more closely than the others (and s2 is amazing and you should watch it after watching s1 which is also really damn good).

I was thinking Chris Rock told her to do it since it looked like he was at the table at the funeral home(the person was out of focus, but it looked like him) where that nurse seems to hang out. They also made a point about him and his wife being anxious to get his boy back and he said something about getting him back as soon as the Italian was dead.

I don't think the nurse hangs out there much since she didn't know who the funeral director's daughter was. I think she was there for a service.

I had assumed Josto told her to ease his father's pain with a wink, seeing as how they had just shared illegal drugs he might have had a hint she was up for it and he was also mad about some brother coming to town who might steal away his path to the throne.
