The dead guy, Mr Death...whatever that mysterious person may be - can someone explain that to me?

I can't really explain it other than there's always a small amount of supernatural stuff on every season of Fargo that doesn't always seem to fit in with the rest of the plot!

Just a bizarre episode, just like the rest of the season.

I didn't think this season was near as strong as most the others, but I was still entertained and thinking rhe last few episodes may really deliver a strong wrap-up. But this episode may have just taken the whole season into the bridge embankment. I'm sure someone will be along to tell me how I just don't appreciate the artsy-fartsy nature of it or maybe blame this kind of episode being a result of covid, but seriously, this close to the end and we get this? Irish and Calamita get ****ing Dorothy'd?

I actually liked the episode. I figured they had to do a episode of Rabbi and Satchel to show what they've been up to but didn't know it will be an whole episode of just them. I do agree there was not multiple exciting moments compared to last week episode but like the storytelling. I kept waiting on the meet up of Calamita and Rabbi.

Many nods in the episode to foreshadow Satchel would be free at the end. I thought there was going to be 10 episodes and was thinking this is the episode they are going with before the finale? Hoping the next 2 are action pack.

I laughed when Rabbi asked the worker to hurry up and he said when I'm done I won't have a job.

I don't know if mentioned on here but did see online if:
Satchel is Mike Milligan in season 2. Milligan is Rabbi's last name

I think your spoiler is spot on.

I'm going to have to watch/listen to some recaps of this ep, was doing a bit of looking this morning and outside this episode there's already a working "Wizard of Oz" theory about the entire season. Definitely an odd episode, though glad to see them focus on Rabbi and Satchel for a bit.

Really intrigued to see how they bring it all together.

It's not that there weren't exciting moments to me. It's more that Rabbi was a character we became invested in (and Calamita was as well as an antagonist), and they basically wrapped their story up in an extremely ridiculous manner.

At the same time, there are tons of of characters and storylines up in the air (pardon the pun) that got no time this episode, and with little time left, I'm starting to suspect more ridiculously abrupt conclusions are on the way

I had really high hopes for this season.

But it's all over the place. Feels like they had multiple directors and writers, who all created their portions independently, and tried to put it all together after it was filmed.

I enjoyed the episode but I too will be disappointed if that's how the Rabbi thing ends. I've got to think COVID made a lot of the original plans to go **** and they had to really re-package what they had already shot to combine with limited re-shoots.

I haven't watched any of Fargo. Where can I watch it? I didn't see it on Netflix.

Hulu. And damn I'm jealous. Seasons 1 and 2 are elite television.

Are 3 and 4 bad?

No. 3 is a solid tv season and I'm currently enjoying 4.

But Fargo s1 and Fargo s2 are both up there with True Detective season 1 as 3 of the 5 best seasons of TV in the post 'Golden Era' imo

True Detective is another show i haven't seen yet either.

How does it compare to the Wire and BB?

When was the end of the Golden Era? I didn't know that was an "official" thing.

True Detective season 1 is the only thing I'd recommend there. It's an anthology anyway so season 2 was a completely different story with different actors/characters/setting. I think if you like either the Wire or BB, you'll enjoy TD s1.

The Golden Era of TV dramas (yes there were great ones right before and right after) imo began with Sopranos and ended with Breaking Bad, and included The Wire, Mad Men, Deadwood, etc.

It's hard to compare anthology series with shows that build on themselves the way BB, BCS, The Wire, etc. do in my opinion. It speaks to how strong Seasons 1 & 2 of Fargo and Seasons 1 & 3 of True Detective are though that people can include them in their Top 5-10 shows of all time (amongst shows that have 3-5 incredible seasons worth of episodes), and I won't bat an eye.

I'll just say this, if you give me the opportunity to wipe my memory and watch a season of a show for the first time all over again, it's going to be Season 1 of True Detective. Particularly episode 4 of that season.

If the line for that one is too long, I'll take the Fargo Season 1 door. A lot of people in this thread seem to prefer Season 2, and I have no problem with that. Just a personal preference for me.

Is Fargo an anthology series?

I wouldn't say there's no relation, season 1 is a close retelling of the movie for the first few eps. It definitely diverges from there and later seasons are unrelated, but the initial premise is pretty similar.

And agreed with those who are fans of Fargo s1 and s2 with s2 as the standout, though if you can I'd definitely watch s1 both for the connection to the film and the cool ways they tie into s2.

I prefer episode 2 of TD...for a couple reasons.

Same universe as the movie, though only one ancillary character in season 1 has any ties with the events of the film.

The seasons are set in different decades, mid-2000's, late 70's, early 2010's, and early 50's, so there are only loose connections between seasons (an adult in season 1 is a child in season 2, etc)

If you ever wondered what happened to the bad Steve Buscemi buried in the third act of the movie, you find out midway through Season 1.

Reminded me of the alien scene from Season 2.

Everything going along great then all of a suddenly this random WTF moment that doesn't fit at all.

How exactly is Fadda's ring supposed to allow Cannon to win the war? Only one episode left and this season has been pretty meh by Fargo standards.

My suspicion, the Cannons plant it on Jasto Fadda (Schwartzman) or somehow frame him so that the Italians think he killed his pops to become the boss, causing the Italians to turn on Jasto and make a deal with the Cannons.
