Space Jam is the highest producing basketball movie of all time even with a basic story line.

Given Coogler's rise as a director and Lebron's fame as a basketball player this movie will probably be right up there as one of the top 10 money makers (especially if Jordan does do a cameo).

I really don't think they need to do much to recreate the same magic as the first one. The massive appeal of the movie isn't basketball, but the Looney Tunes. I hope they keep making them the focal point of the movie because that was the fun part for me.

If anything, I think there would be an opposite effect. Kids don't know who loony tunes are, they're not going to want to see it for that. This isn't Pokmon.
I think it might have a short lived effect of bringing loony tunes to popularity for a bit, much like the Muppets after that movie a few years ago.

Jordan lost to the Magic in the '95 playoffs. Shot Space Jam that summer, came back and won his second three-peat. That entire summer Jordan had a gym on set and trained all during filming. Said it was the best off season of his life. If you follow LeBron on Instagram, he's doing basically the exact same thing. Was in the gym at 4:55 AM the other day before filming. I'm not saying LeBron is going to three-peat after this, but I wouldn't underestimate him at this point.

I was checking out my old posts and saw you and me both hyped up about the 2007 Transformers movie before it came out made laugh. I've never felt so old as I did in that movie watching the fights thinking "other than Optimus Prime I have no idea who any of these robots are.

Watched the first one with my son a couple weeks ago....it is sooooooooo baaaaadddd. Its one of the worst produced, acted, and written movies ive ever seen.

I remember when it came out but a second viewing reminds one of how bad it really was. I have zero doubt this new version will step over the bar that was essentially set on the ground by Jordan's version.
