Prior to last night, I was so done with this show. I had just deleted it from my tv show tracker... and then they did what they did last night. That ending and that preview showed they realize they have a problem, trying to shake things up and not alienate the fans. So my interest went up enough to where I will give it another episode or two.

Yeah, a significant timeline acceleration and reset was a huge need. Now just don't blow it.

I never watch the previews but I did tonight, and WTF...TWD Preview Spoiler: were the walkers SPEAKING ENGLISH when those people were hiding from them in the creek? I guess they weren't kidding when they said the walkers were evolving!

The next few episodes are gonna blow your mind then! Lol

Anyone else who watched Daredevil season 2 as well as The Punisher happy to see Shane make a cameo, and actually see him in a positive light now as opposed to before as a villain? Wish that guy was still around. Him and Merle Dixon would be bigtime assets to the current crew

Annoying what they did with Rick. It flies against the whole concept of how they have established this world.

They may as well have whisked him away in a UFO.

Ok, I gave up with about 3 episodes left last season...should I come back?

Yet to be determined. But I'm liking this new showrunner so far. It is very different. And the previews for the next 3 episodes are...whoa. Something!

It's a little thing, but I like that one of the ads says "Walking Dead is back to being one of the best shows on TV."

Admitting there was a problem helps you solve it.

Enjoyed the finale, an as much grief as this show gets I think the season has been pretty good so far.

I like that they left it kinda open ended with Rick and didn't give him an ultimate resolved fate.

I think Shane would have continued down his dark path as Rick and co. became more hardened and willing to fight/kill. They wouldn't have "caught up" with each other.

Even at the peak of 'Ricktator', Rick wasn't willing to kill an innocent member of the group to get something. Shane did, and would have gotten worse. He was always going to be a lingering problem and needed to be put down. Plus the whole Lori thing was going to get worse.

Overall I liked the finale.

Still wish they had let Rick go out on the bridge. That was the perfect ending with the python shot to blow it and save the group. But apparently Andrew Lincoln is going to continue the character in a trilogy of movies from AMC (Walking Dead Odyssey?). I guess that was a compromise for Lincoln, but the fractured nature of him surviving and everyone thinking he's dead seems like a weird thing to be hanging over the rest of the series. It sounds like he won't be returning to the tv series at all. Although I suppose there's wiggle room for him to make an appearance in the series finale. You'd think they would give it some kind of closure when the show finally wraps up.

I also wonder if TWD will cross paths with Morgan and the new crew from FTWD. They hinted at it in FTWD but then Morgan and the group decide to stay where they are and help people.

Did everyone buy Negan's plea for death? I had a weird feeling it may have been him acting desperate for death, knowing Maggie would want him to suffer and thus keep him alive.

Seemed pretty genuine to me. He had nothing left but to sit and reflect. He was a tough guy that probably didn't fear death, and accepted it. He thought he was supposed to go down swinging one day. And they took that away from. His reaction to Michonne's comments about Lucille's fate seemed pretty genuine as well.

But maybe not. You never know with this show.

50/50 for me. Thought he was faking it to get the crowbar away from Maggie, but afterwards thought maybe it was for real. Still not sure.

I thought it was fake. While he didn't give a full-out smirk or anything super obvious at the end, I thought the camera staying on his face (now calm) after he turned away from Maggie was a hint that it was an act.

It's weird seeing him crying over a bat.

His character has become super annoying. I was kinda pissed when it became obvious that Maggie wasn't going to kill him. Now, who knows how long he'll be around.

They kinda explained it (quickly) on the show, but just in case:

His wife was named Lucille. When everything went to hell, he was losing it, until he found the bat and named it for her. Losing the bat was losing the last piece of his old self. It was fleshed out much better in the comics; not sure why the show didn't do the exact same thing. It wouldn't have taken any additional time. Oh well.

The bat talk reminds me of about 2 weeks ago I stopped on Cast Away while channel surfing. It was at the point where it's 4 years later and he's building the raft. My 12 year old daughter (who has never seen the movie) laughs and asks "why's he talking to that volleyball?", thinking it's ridiculous. She also laughs and comments "oops, fail" when he throws it out of the cave.

But between my quick explanation of the context + Hanks being a great actor, minutes later she's asks if he's gonna take Wilson with him. Already legitimately concerned about Wilson. Then you could see she was sad when Wilson eventually floats away (spoiler alert!).

Was interesting to see it through a kid's eyes, and the impact of Hank's acting had in selling a concept that seems kind of ridiculous.

Gotta say this season has been refreshing. This show needed it. I couldn't care less about Rick anymore, but at about the 50-minute mark of that episode, I found myself really hoping somehow they were lying about it being Rick's last episode.

Just started this half of the season. During the fight in episode 2 all I could think of was this King of the Hill scene.

Great episode and reset of the series tonight.

Glad to see Carol is still as badass as ever. Judith's actor is great, too.

Feel like I've seen some of the newbies before in something. Have leader chick and fatty been in something notable?

Edit for getting off my butt and doing my own googling.
Fatty was in Balls of Fury, leader chick hasn't been in anything I recognized on IMDB.

I am happy with the reset, I actually watched last night without scanning my phone constantly.

I am assuming the new girl is deaf and reading lips? It is really annoyed me that a deaf person is still alive in this world. No offense, because I am 100% deaf in one ear; however, if you can't hear walkers, I don't see you surviving for 10 years in this world. I thought the breaks in conversation to ask and answer questions in sign language made the flow weird.

I get that in this day and age we have to have equal representation of all walks of people in TV shows, but having the guy in the wheelchair in FTWD and the deaf girl in TWD is just over the top for me. Unfortunately only the strong will survive in this world and those handicaps will get you killed in the first week of the apocalypse, much less 10 years into it.

Agree. The new group being 2 hearing impaired black ladies, 1 chunky Hispanic, 1 Asian, and 1 white (edgy white) made me smile. It's like the new Star Wars movies.

I watched Talking Dead and it's neat that the 2 hearing impaired sisters are actually hearing impaired in real life, though I didn't realize the one that isn't fully deaf was a girl until Talking Dead.

I don't think the 1 guy is Hispanic and he comes on The Goldbergs as the uncle.
