Just watched it on Paramount+. I initially quite liked it but with more thought, I'm kind of disappointed. It's essentially the same thing but them making their way to a radio station. No real decisions, not very many obstacles. The finale is kinda the finale of last time.

Random parallel but if The Last of Us 2 did what AQP2 did, I would have been pissed. But TLOU had a sequel that was very different. It was fresh and new. AQP2 just kind of repeated itself.

I thought the sequel was bland.

No explanation of blind aliens. WTF was the random mob at the marina? #gladitwasfree

I was entertained, but it was more of the same. Felt less connected to the characters than last time.

Enjoyed more of the origin stuff and they could have done more there. Only a 1:37 run time so there was room.

I don't need the full rules and origin of the monsters. They're cool as is.

Not really sure how they would explain the origins of the monsters in a non ridiculous way. I suppose they could discover some documentation from a previous time they invaded or have some intelligent aliens appear and explain their plan

Who drove the boat to the island?

Was this a worldwide event? If so, our militaries couldn't take them out?

I know we're starving for decent movies in the theater, but I didn't think it was that different from the first. I enjoyed it but not overwhelming.

And yes too quiet.

The boat drifted out to the island.

I honestly don't understand at all not liking this movie. I thought it was incredibly well done. It was about the kids. In the first one, it was about the parents sacrificing trying to protect the kids. In the second one, it was about the kids - especially the boy - finding the courage and the ability to protect themselves. The final scene, with the shots of the brother and sister each killing a monster, I found just awesome and beautiful.

We don't tell kids stories about dragons so they know that dragons exist. They already know that. We tell them stories about dragons so they know dragons can be defeated. (paraphrase of Chesterton.)

Very well said. I thought the movie was incredible. The way the three storylines interweaved and overlapped in inventive ways (in terms of the editing) was masterful. I guess I get wanting more plot, but the characters each evolved in more-than-satisfying ways, which was more than enough for me, personally. Yes, there are things to nitpick to death in terms of the aliens, their backstory/plan, etc, but Krasinski is such a fantastic director, and these movies are so expertly done, that none of that stuff bothers me in the least (and it usually does). It's all about the characters and the storytelling, and Krasinksi has knocked both out of the park two movies in a row.

My parents were in town and we saw it last weekend in the theater, a big theater that was at least 75% full over a month after it hit theaters. Crowd was into it, and my parents and I all loved it. To the point where they were asking me about a potential third movie, and were already looking forward to it.

Entertaining enough. Plot holes out the wazoo once you think about how the plot played out.

Plenty of things that really made no sense for people who have survived so long.

Oh and really no where the caliber of Alien or Aliens, whomever said that is way off base.

This is one of the few movies where it ends and you think -- that could've been 15 minutes longer. You rarely have movies feel too short, but this one was so enjoyable and well paced that I felt it could've gone on longer.
