My kids are still in the duplo stage (2.5) although they love to play with some knockoff legos my wife has that she used to use for therapy with patients. The knock offs are terrible.

Last night I got a fancy LEGO catalog in the mail despite the fact that AFAIK I haven't bought any LEGOs in the last 30 years. I was really pondering the wisdom of their direct mail marketing and how they got my name on their list when I realized it was genius because I was pondering spending hundreds of dollars on legos.

I impulse bought this about 6 months ago. It's awesome. Took about 12 hours in total to build. It stands about a foot and half tall and is well over 2 feet long.

That's a cool "old-fashioned space ship," as my 6-year-old son calls it.

So I pulled the trigger and am trying a Lepin set. They are a Chinese knock off, but according to all are very very good. Maybe 1 piece out of several thousand will be a little off and they are quick to replace anything.

I just got the Technic Bugatti Chiron

Will report back when I get it and build it

Confession time: I use my 10yo as an excuse to collect and play with LEGO. HaHa, his collection takes up an entire room...

You are not alone. The biggest problem I have is that I'm really OCD when it comes to LEGOs. My son now likes to scratch build and it drives me nuts. You have to follow the directions!!! Might need to do a paternity test on the kid!?!

Legos are a great toy. My kids have had so many sets over the years but they always end up busted and in a bin. The wife and I did go all President Business and Kragle the sh** out of some of the sets at one point but eventually gave up on that too. Legos are like landmines in Cambodia. You can never find them all and you're going to step on one in the middle of night and scream in pain. Also, Labrador Retrievers can chew, digest, and pass legos, a lot of them, over many years, and not die.

If you have access to a VPN that can make it look like you are in Australia, check out Legomasters (full episodes free to stream):

https://www.9now.com.au/lego-masters

You can also find some of the footage on YouTube.

We were traveling with our kids in Australia while this series was on and we enjoyed it immensely. In Melbourne we went to the Legoland discovery center and got to see the championship winning build in person.

My bro was/is a LEGO nerd since back about 1985. He kept all his sets with boxes. He actually sold a few 80s sets on eBay recently, sold some up near $1000.

Anyway he's got to have 100 sets. Mostly larger ones, not the little 20-30 piece kits.

If I step on another lego on my tile floor, one of my kids is being put up for adoption.

I've heard a forced Lego walk replaced waterboarding. It's been 100% effective and who can really complain when a toy is involved.

Also, I need that Stranger Things set. That's pretty awesome.

I missed this sector of childhood in the '80s because models were still big. I had the USS Arizona, an F4 Phantom, and a B58 Hustler off the top of my head.

Anyway, with the sophistication (and holy crap the price inflation) of Legos sets has it replaced traditional models at this point? Some of these sets look absolutely incredible.

My kids are 7.5 and 6.5 and we are at lego land. I was never a huge lego guy, but this is absolutely perfect for their ages. Highly recommend it

I completed phase 1 of the Great Lego Organization of 2019, and I have begun the Disney castle. I've got some pics, I just need to upload them somewhere.

I built the Ghost Busters' firehouse and took me more than a week. Spent several hours a night working my through it. I am really sad that I missed The Quik-E-Mart by about a week. I kept waiting and waiting then poof, it retired.

Double checked, VIP gets free patch, orders over 99 get free rocket (I paid full price $99.99). Maybe you bought before the free rocket, or used a discount.

IKEA Glass door cabinet

I have several of these. Once a year IKEA usually sells them for $40.
You can fit 2 medium size kits on a shelf. For example in the bottom space, I can fit an AT-AT set and a couple of snowspeeders

Same here. I was way into models and now I get a do-over with Legos with my kids. I did a single F4, and then a set of 4 F4 Thunderbirds. Also had a wicked Corsair. Baa Baa Blacksheep was one of my favorite shows at the time.

I will have to take a picture of it tonight but I still have this bad boy intact! Loved setting up the monorail on my parent's dinning room table!

My parents were cool enough to get the track expansion set also!

Lucky enough, we removed the battery that ran the monorail after each use so I have a corroded free engine! I still need to put in a fresh battery to test it out.

LEGO is always to be capitalized and is an adjective that should be followed by a noun.
