Out of curiosity, how many pages are in the construction book?

I uploaded some pics to imgur to update you guys with my progress, but I'm not sure how to get them onto texags from mobile. any tips?

You should be able to go to "share" and copy and paste the image url code (the one that ends in .jpg or other file format) into the TexAgs posting box. I know the mobile version of the site auto-imbeds images without tags, but I'm not sure about the desktop version.

yeah I cant seem to get to a .jpg link on my phone. oh well, i'll try it from home later. cant get on imgur at my office.

On iPhone, long press on the image and select "copy post link".

Fully agree.

We went with plastic silverware organizers stacked in underbed drawers. Sorted by color, clear, people, wheels, etc. Had to get separate larger containers for gray, black and white because there are so many.

i was originally going to organize by color into larger bins, but I quickly realized it would be extremely frustrating looking for a single, tiny specific piece of a certain color in a large bin full of that color. ended up sorting by type, which has been pretty useful for this castle build.

So I went ahead and looked. Book is 494 pages. I'm 4 steps through, page 170.

Just under 2 hours a step, and each step is about 4-5 bags. At this rate, 35-40 hours total.

In the middle of the R2-D2 build. The quality of the bricks is not as good as genuine a LEGO set, but it's definitely good enough considering these sets are about 1/4 of the price.

My biggest issue so far is that i don't have any bins or anything for proper sorting, so i'm just winging it. And a lot of time has been spend just hunting pieces. I can't quite figure out the organization of which pieces are in which bags. Some of it makes sense, one bag will be 100 of the exact same piece, and then some of it just seems completely random, like 1 half of a hinge piece will be in 1 bag, and the other half of the hinge piece will be in a completely different bag...

The last genuine LEGO build i did, there were numbered bags. Bag 1 was was just a complete set of all the pieces you needed to build the 1st section. No prior organization needed. You just dump the bag and build section 1.

Anyway, I'll posts some R2-D2 pics when i finish.

I loved them as a kid and now all of my kids love them as well.

I was a "put them together and play with them as they were designed" kind of kid but all of my kids are "freelancers"; they put them together like the instructions when they first get them but then they tear them apart and want to build all of their own designs.

Over the last 5 years or so all of their sets have become intermingled into multiple buckets in and around their Lego table. One of their projects this summer has been to start rebuilding them per the original instructions and then box them up (just to thin out the overload we have. They've enjoyed that for the most part.

One hint that I would give to anyone sorting and boxing is to sort them all by colors first....that's made a world of difference in how fast they've been able to put the older models together.

Doesn't organizing blocks into partitioned containers negate the fun and challenge of sorting through a big mess of legos to find the right piece you need next?

Got Kyle and helmet for Christmas. Loved the time putting them together. Led to getting the death star which was fun but not as much of a challenge. Foco has some good stuff.
