I bounced when Chocolate Chip Trip came on. Had to get home and up early for meetings. Sunday shows and being a responsible person suck.
In other news, the show was damn good. Loved hearing the new music live.

Curious, but did any of you enjoy Chocolate Chip Trip? I am a Tool fan but moments like that I just can't get into. The whole gong and weird noise. I just kept thinking "Why are you playing this when you could use this time of a legit song?"
I'm a drummer, so I don't mind watching one of the best of modern rock do his thing.Jim01 said:

Tool has won Best Metal Performance at the 62nd GRAMMY Awards for ("7empest.") Band members Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey were present to accept the award.
"I'd like to thank all the gods because I don't think it's a good time to piss them off," Carey said. He also thanked his bandmates Chancellor, Adam Jones and Maynard James Keenan.
"7empest," which is more than 15 minutes long, is off the band's much awaited album Fear Inoculum.
Cool they won, but that's like the fifth-best song on the album. The Grammys have always been meh.Shife said:
Oh hey, Best Metal Performance Grammy. No big deal!

Every new TOOL album does that to me temporarily. After a while, I will go back and listen to the old stuff and appreciate it again.newhowdyag2004 said:
Has this album diminished all of their older albums/songs for you? Maybe it's because they are still new, but I've heard each new song easily 50 times and when I listen to any older song, it just isn't the same.
Maybe a bad analogy, but it's like driving a brand new sports car. Sure the older models are fun, but the upgrades just make it that more enjoyable.
But it is the only song on the album that could possibly be considered "metal", so it makes sense.AustinAg2012 said:Cool they won, but that's like the fifth-best song on the album. The Grammys have always been meh.Shife said:

I'm watching the latest Rick Beato video. Rick interviewed Maynard yesterday in Arizona at one of his restaurants.
Keep an eye out for it in the near future.

Man thanks for the heads up. Can't wait.
As you can tell from my username, I have no interest in Tool whatsoever.

For any B/CS locals, I went into the Proudest Monkey on Wednesday and saw a flyer next door at Grand Stafford for a TOOL tribute band that will be playing August 27th with a Pantera tribute band opening.

ETA: Saw TOOL in Vegas back in January. It was an incredible experience. It just bugs me that they don't play a ton of their best/my favorite songs. I almost feel like it's intentional, and just Maynard being Maynard. They have so many phenomenal tracks that for whatever reason are just shelved. "H", for one, being my favorite. How they don't play that song anymore is beyond my comprehension.
sammy Hagar visited his vineyards for interview on his rock n roll road-trip show as well. Pretty good watch.maroon barchetta said:
Rick Beato's interview with Maynard is up. He's an odd cat.
I've seen them three times, and an amazing show every time (did the VIP one time and met and talked with Adam Jones for over an hour in a private room. He then pulled out an amp and guitar and played us a rendition of Jambi which was an insane experience. We later then went into the stadium (by ourselves, doors still closed) and let us watch them warm up and sound check. We got to pick a song (46 and 2) and they played it for us (minus vocals of course). They also then played Third Eye (with Maynard) which they also played during the show (which is a rarity). Definitely was worth the ticket.johnnyblaze36 said:
