Narc with Jason Patric and Ray Liotta. Critics loved it, but it was forgotten pretty quickly.

Goon rules. Sunshine really lost me when the captain of the other ship arbitrarily is super strong / survived at all. That generic horror movie trope kind of took me out of the rest of the film.

Edge of Tomorrow is a good pick.

I really liked Source Code. It was a small box office success, but I only know a few people that have seen it. Actually, go ahead and put most of Jake Gyllenhaal's films on here. They may be critically praised but they aren't always heralded by the average moviegoer.

My addition:
Breaking Away.
94% on RT. 91% on Metacritic.
Won an academy award and was nominated for 4 others including best picture.
One of the best sports movies of all time.

People of a certain age know this film, but for the most part it's been forgotten which is mind-blowing.
Yep. This one actually has a personal aspect for me. Back when I was a sophomore at A&M very early in the spring '94 semester, my girlfriend and I had broken up and I was just down in the dumps. I went home for the weekend and my dad, who almost never rented movies but was looking to try to pick me up in some way, brought home Breaking Away after work. I didn't know anything about it, but he knew it was a great one. Was a good distraction that we watched together, and I'll never forget him doing that.

I still refer to college station townies as "cutters". Granted it is always greeted by looks of confusing

While it did ok, I always thought Master & Commander was excellent and could have had a sequel at least.

Edge of Tomorrow - one of the best movies of the decade

90% RT and only $100M at the office

One of Cruise's best and that says something
Completely agree. Collateral is another great Cruise movie that isn't talked much about. He was outstanding in that.

And one from the 80s....Running on Empty

Collateral is awesome. Cruise is ****oo bananas but what a great actor. My wife can't stand the guy but he has put out arguably the best sci-fi/action movies over the past 25 years.

Edge of Tomorrow
Collateral
Mission Impossible 1,3,4,5,6
Oblivion
Valkyrie
War of the Worlds
Last Samurai
Minority Report
The Firm
A Few Good Men
Top Gun
Tropic Thunder

Damn right. I'll go one further and say that, by the sheer number of quality films on his resume, he just might be the greatest action star of all time.

This is going to require some research. I know what I'm doing for the rest of the day at work.

He is the greatest. The others that would qualify would be like Stallone, Arnold, Bruce Willis, Ford, Eastwood, Mel Gibson. None of them have the sheer number of quality films that Cruise puts out and will continue to put out.

Heck the dude is about to put out another Top Gun, Edge of Tomorrow and Mission Impossible movie. Considering how great he still looks at 57, we probably will get action movies from him for another 20 years.

Love Liza

Hardly ever talk to anyone who has seen it but as a Philip Seymour Hoffman fan it is one of my favorites. Kathy Bates is great in it too, and the guy who plays his strange friend. Well shot, cool soundtrack. Love that movie!
