Would True Romance count?

Critically successful and built up almost a cult following by late 90's but barely made over $12M at the box office. Possibly the best cast ever assembled, IMO. In my top 10 of all time.

True Romance

Oh, you mean Quentin Tarantino's modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet? A must have

Also, in no order:

Solar Babies - epically bad, shaped my dreams in the 80's

Willow - george lucs condensed version of tolkein staring val kilmer

Labrynth - bog of eternal stench, tunnel of hands

Ronin - never walk into a place i dont already know how to walk out of

Way of the Gun - watch the openong scene with director commentary - damn

Run, Ronnie, Run - Jeff Goldblum cameo ftw

Three Kings & I Heart Huckabees - when watched together

Puff Puff Pass - tiny classified ad's

Happiness - so fcked up

A River Runs Through It -

The Game - just wow

The Abyss - that sht is deep

Baz Lurmans R+J & Titus

I could do this all day. I feel like i gave up TV for film a long time ago.

Edge of Tomorrow - one of the best movies of the decade

90% RT and only $100M at the office

One of Cruise's best and that says something

For some reason, I keep watching edge of tomorrow and Groundhog Day.

they ruined the ending of that movie. It deserves that rating. The first 2 acts are incredible.

Event Horizon. I've always thought it was a truly scary movie that received fairly average reviews. It's almost 20 years old now and still creeps me out.

That movie still scares me ****less.

To this very day I won't enter a black hole.
I remember it as the most scared I've been in a movie. But then I re-watched it a couple years ago with my nephews to see how freaked out they would be, and I wasn't even that freaked out watching it, they just kind of thought it was ok.

Guess desensitization is a real thing.

Nick Nolte puts on an incredible performance. Thomas Hardy is excellent in this too. I watch it anytime I come across it.

Since I brought up Thomas Hardy, another solid film of his is Bronson which isn't very well known, either.

Had this recommended to me and finally watched it last year, solid story and Nolte, Tom Hardy, and Joel Edgerton are all outstanding.

I was thinking about Pan's Labyrinth today and how good it was. An amazing juxtaposition of a masochistic warmongering sociopath and a childhood fantasy - both stories told so well.
95 percent on RT, 8.2 on IMDB, and it only made 83
Million worldwide. And it's not like it comes up often in discussions either.
What other respected movies don't get their due?
Easily his del Toro's best movie he ever made. I've watched it more times than any other movie.

About that movie, does anyone else remember David Letterman featuring that add on his show?

I mean I do too, but it won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2014, so I would not consider it a "Least Heralded Good Movie"

Quote:

Initially regarded as one of the hottest scripts in Hollywood, the movie had a troubled production and was finally given a limited theatrical release of only five theaters for one week due to movie-studio politics and worries about association with the 1999 Columbine High School massacre. It was met with poor critical reviews; however, the film ultimately grossed about $50 million in domestic video sales and developed a large cult following.
