I don't think its dated at all, but I don't understand the "its dated" argument that I hear about The Wire. I hear people say its dated because they use pagers and early model cell phones. That's dumb. That same logic implies that The Godfather is dated because it uses 70s technology or that Breaking Bad will become dated in a few years.

Having dated technology in the background is one thing. Having plot points (or whole seasons) centered around dated technology is another. That's all.

I'm not gonna complain about Braveheart because Scotland didn't have tanks.

Agree the Sopranos feels very very dated.

I will very much get bombed on but I think the Wire is a bit overrated. I enjoyed it, and I love dramas/cop shows but I just don't find it to be the be all show some people do.

I'll now run for cover.

Season 4 is considered the best by many. If not best, second best to 3. This is a highly controversial opinion.

If interested the ringer just started an episode by episode breakdown. It's called Way Down in the Hole. It's trying to be Binge Mode for The Wire. They are 3 eps in and it's still finding it's feet, but fun.

This is probably my order though I could switch 2 and 3 depending on my mood. Season 5 is a drop in quality but still better than 95% of what's on tv.

lol i'm watching The Sopranos for the first time right now and i love the fact that it's dated. It's like a time capsule.

Yea i feel like the ONLY season that feels a little dated is season 1 (with all the pagers/beepers). After that, i didn't really notice the tech at all (in a good way).
