I think they've said that 90's era of SNL was more popular with junior high and high school students, but hated by almost every other demo and in real danger of cancellation. One of my faves too. One of the ultimate glue guy role players IMO. You could tell writers loved using him in sketches where he's the cop or the dad, because he would always take a thankless part and elevate it. The image of him dancing in the back of What Up With That always makes me smile.

What's up with that is a dang national treasure, and Sudeikis doing 2 weeks worth of cardio in the background is a huge reason why.
In What's That Name, Hader was doing the bit where he was cold reading some of the cards like he always did with Stefan. His "The Squad" line for sure, and I suspect the "Chaos" line as well.

I never realized Steve Martin was never a cast member. He hosted 15 times and was a guest 10. His comedy heyday hit at the same time SNL was taking off. This is a great discussion. I never thought about how much SNL has woven itself into my life.
