In all seriousness, I think if they were still alive Phil Hartman would be extraordinarily famous and continuing to work - even though he'd be 72 now - and effortlessly gone on to do several more TV roles or movies or really whatever he wanted; maybe a guy like Ferrell who shows up on Conan or Fallon every few months just to have fun. Hartman and Carvey are cut from the same cloth of being such chameleons who can disappear into every role and still deliver hilarious stuff even if they are the 3rd lead with 2 lines in a sketch. I think he's be an all-timer either way.

If Farley had survived what killed him, I think I'd unfortunately see him going the way of a Charlie Sheen or even Johnny Football as a stretch. Every time you see them they look older than they should and seem to be doing something that is just a grasp for money and attention. You loved them so much in the good old days and you wish and wish they'd figure it out and get cleaned up, but it seems less and less likely.

I thought John Belushi was the easy winner. His legacy seems like something that would go on the Mount Rushmore of SNL. Without him in the early days, there's a chance SNL doesn't exist post-1980. Add Blues Brothers and Animal House to his accomplishments, and I thought he was obvious.

Oh well. The final 8 and 4 are all still very strong and a great walk down memory lane. The GIFs are very helpful and made me feel better about Belushi not moving on. All of these comedians are legends.

I was surprised how little love the original cast received in general. I thought Bill Murray probably would not win but would likely make the Final Four based upon his post SNL work. You are probably correct most of the voters were casting their votes based upon the time on SNL.

I would have thought Will Ferrell v Dana was the final. Hartman great cast member, but was truly the glue to scenes, not as many standout characters. Farley was himself, but with different outfits on in different scenes. It's Hartman in a landslide of Farley.

Ferrell and Carvey should have been top two. I'd give Ferrell the nudge over Dana, but it's close.
