From a macro view, I'd say the odds are like 0% that Disney is going to put a show on the air that boils down to a woman taking an entire town hostage (possibly killing a guy?) because her lover died.

I think there's definitely some other player(s) in the game, but I am starting to like the idea that we don't really meet them until the very end.

Still think the chances are 0%?
While she didn't consciously do it, which is an important distinction, I am extremely surprised that that does appear to be the case. Surprised there aren't a bunch of think pieces about the portrayal of a grieving woman literally losing all control. Seems pRoBlEmAtIc.

I think we have to see if anything more comes out about who bought that property and left the deed for Wanda. Maybe they don't revisit it, and we just have to assume it was Vision, but it seems really weird for him to buy them a random plot of land in a rundown town in Jersey (next to a house with a creepy witch basement)

I just assumed Agatha used her magic to create the creepy witch basement.

We saw Wanda magically create a house from scratch and then renovate it by decade, so we know witches can handle construction projects pretty quickly.

A friend and I were discussing how that's even kind of bizarre on a fundamental level. So the government doesn't respect Vision's rights, clearly, but he can own property? Did Stark have to co-sign and put down a down payment because no way Vision has any assets. OR, did he take out a loan against his own value in vabranium? A lot to consider.

Weren't there similar questions about vision lifting Thor's hammer asked by other avengers? Something like, "What if I put the hammer in an elevator. Is the elevator worthy?"
Thanks and gig'em

I always stop reading this thread after Thursday and resume after I watch the episode. I'd hate to have to stop until the series is over...

I guess we're to understand that Agatha's magic is undetectable by Wanda.

I'm still confused on when Agatha said she was drawn to the place because of so many spells being cast if she meant Westview or the creepy basement.

The real magic was how fast she got those permits, amirite???

Has to be Westview.

It's unclear why Vision bought the property, but otherwise my understanding is:

- Wanda gets the deed to property from (someone?)
- Finds out Vision's body is at SWORD and goes to retrieve it, but after seeing he's really gone, doesn't
- Wanda goes to the property explodes with power, creating new Vision, new Westview, etc
- Agatha senses this power explosion and comes to investigate
- Using her own power, builds a place within the hex where Wanda's powers don't work

"So many spells cast at once"

Referring to when Wanda went bonkers and took over the town?
Referring to another time when spells were cast by someone else?

If the former, Wanda created the town, Agatha found out and created her creepy basement next door.
If the latter, Agatha is probably involved in a sinister plot to draw Wanda to the town and to the house next door.

At least that would be my rudimentary understanding of it.
Agatha explained that mind control is difficult, and that transmutation (changing stuff's shape) "takes years to master."

So she was drawn to the fact that Wanda did those things on a massive scale, which should be very difficult/impossible

...and it appears she created her own basement and put those protection spells on it

Just FYI... additional leaks/spoilers are now out for Episode 9, reaffirming those unused from last week and expanding with newer material.

there are also lots of obviously fake ones as well.

And I would avoid any more of ScreenCrush's videos until after Friday's episode.

With this series he has shown a few times now a willingness to subtly include/expand on his theories with newly spoiled material.

Not going to give examples, but just putting that suggestion out there.
Just watched the SC video, as it's the only new one since last week's episode recap. I don't see anything that isn't already out there. Just guesses. Uses the comics to make these. Yes, if you want to go in knowing nothing, avoid it but I would not call these spoilers for upcoming episodes unless he just happens to be right.

Do we think zombie vision could be an MCU version of a sentinel?

Nah, it's almost assuredly white vision... apparently w/e that is.

Maybe. Could also simply be Wanda has zero mastery of her powers as Agatha said on the show. She may be able to detect other magic but doesn't know how to yet.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Well that would still be undetectable if she doesn't know how to detect it, but more specifically what I meant was that she was able to get into the hex without being "reprogrammed" or whatever happened to everyone and everything else.

So most likely won't see Dr. Strange. But maybe someone like Wong?

To me at least, Strange isn't some massive cameo. I feel like he almost *has* to show up, seeing as this is all a direct setup to his next movie. I take this more as we're not getting some Luke Skywalker-level character/actor reveal. I could of course be way off, though.

If he really was teasing and the cameo is himself that's pretty funny.

That's not what the article seems to state. Dr. Strange wouldn't be a major reveal in the MCU. He's a major part of the MCU already. Him popping up isn't a huge OMG moment really. And since this is magic and probably very much felt by Dr. Strange, I'd actually be surprised if he didn't make an appearance. So he could very well be in the last episode. I do think Bettany was trolling us though. He was talking about working with himself when The Fision fights The White Vision.

Edit: TC and Bobinator beat me to it.

Ok, well this might be more fun, who's cameo would be the least exciting for you out of anyone in any Marvel production?

I can't imagine how fb would be the next day if Andrew Garfield was the cameo.

If this has been already discussed, I apologize. But, Westview did not exist prior to Wanda, right? When Woo and Rambeaux talked to the Sheriff, he said he was from Eastview and there was no Westview.

Westview did exist. The sign was right behind them. The Hex was messing with the sheriff's mind and making him forget Westview existed.

Yeah, plus in the last episode we saw Wanda driving into actual Westview.

To me, that's one of the biggest mysteries that I hope the finale answers is why Westview?
OnlyForNow
How long do you want to ignore this user?

It existed.

You and I were thinking the same thing during that scene. The thing to think about now, is that the billboard for Westview was outside of the Hex, therefore not part of the illusion.

(So it's real).

I wonder what the timeline was between the power explosion and the first "episode" of the tv show. Agatha must have sensed the magic and got to Westview SUPER quick since she was present in the 'pilot episode' that we saw.

Makes me wonder if she actually knew what was happening and she's just embellishing her story a little right now.

The director has even said fans will be disappointed with the finale after the excessive theorizing lol
