Maybe this time travel series does it correctly. they only recruit specific people from the past. Ones that died in the 30 years that didn't have an outcome in the war in the future and ones that if they die don't prevent someone from being born that is influential. I would guess the 7 year old daughter of Pratt's they mention is important in the future but he died in the 30 years before the war

Honest question, but what would be the budget on a movie they were willing to sell off for 200 million?
It's a completely different paradigm, you don't have to worry about marketing, or what percentage of the box office you get in various countries etc. And in the current world maybe they take a discounted amount to just be happy to break even? I was thinking maybe 125 million, 150 on the outside?
I legit don't know.

Those two numbers would have been my exact guess range as well. Maybe slightly lower since this isn't proven IP, but I can't see something like this costing less than $115M. Unless, of course, it happens to look particularly cheap when we see the trailer, but I seriously doubt that's the case, given the plot description.

What's interesting is if this model sticks. you could eventually get to the point where you commission a film, set a budget, set a price and sell it before you green fully light it, and you have cost and profit certainty. The risk is transferred to the buyers. It's almost like moving toward the TV model. Without the pilot concept.
