ScreenRant is such a sh*t site, and I had never seen this Ryan guy before, but man that was great. God, this movie is dumb. I still feel like a lot of these issues could have been solved in a limited series format, but the rest are just *really* bad writing.
I don't know anything about Screen Rant but my brothers and I pass around Ryan's videos and what can I say, his sense of humor just really appeals to me

Good action flick, it did seem oddly paced in that the movie had a second, almost anticlimactic act.

I love Yvonne Strahovski, would have liked her role to be bigger, but she did what she could with what she had. I liked the turnabout where she effectively ended up saving her dad, instead of him saving her

Good mind numbing action flick where they shoot up the bad guys. Go into it with some popcorn and you won't be disappointed.

I was 100% certain he would die and send her back to the past.

That summarized 80 percent of the completely ridiculous things that happened.
My favorite though, and when I knew what we were in for, was when the future people got there in the beginning and somehow in the middle of the game there was a camera man right in front of her and she was magically on the PA system. Pretty much set the tone for the movie.
Still was t bad though. Pretty much starship troopers meets Armageddon. With a finale that would have made cowboys and aliens proud.

That's a bad thing?

I thought the aliens were some of the best I've seen. They made the movie for me.

There's a place for "Starship Troopers meets Armageddon" and a place for BladeRunner.

I legitimately don't understand why that conversation would be removed. It was a slight derail but wasn't out of line at all.

First 3/4 of the movie I honestly thought was great. Really enjoyed it. It even got me a little bit when he came back and his daughter was there waiting for him.

But then..

"Oh, they sent you back from the future with a way to kill the aliens? Great, we're just going to ignore that and not even talk about it for some reason."

Of all the people in the world, present and future, nobody could figure out that the aliens came from the ice melt, but this merry band of misfits and an elementary school student with a laptop figures it out? Ok.

"We can't just fly a plane into Russia!" What the hell are you talking about? The whole world came together and instituted a worldwide draft to fight aliens from the future, but you can't call up Russia and be like "hey, the future people said the aliens came from Siberia. We think they've actually already landed there and are under the ice. Let's go check it out." Why would anybody have a problem with that?

So they just hop on a plane and magically avoid detection, and all of the explosions they set off on Russian soil don't alert the Russians?

They get down there and find the aliens, knowing full well what they're capable of, but then they just hang out and dick around letting them hatch? Ok.

I do think them finding the ship with the dead alien pilots was kind of cool. Wouldn't mind a sequel where they expand on that, like where they came from and why they're transporting the live cargo.

This movie was 75% awesome, 25% trash. But I enjoyed it.

I conducted an unofficial survey of films and came to the conclusion that if a movie is gonna show titties, its gonna have a set within the first 5 minutes of the movie at least half the time. Gotta get the people hooked.

I mean, it was a Christmas party and they had soccer on, but having a party to watch the most popular sporting event on the planet (the World Cup) isn't exactly weird.

The weird part was that they were watching the World Cup in December, but if this was starting in late 2022 (which I think was the case) that actually lines up with the new dates of next year's tournament. I'm guessing the idea was that they wanted to show up at a worldwide event and the World Cup final is pretty much the ideal scenario there.

I purposefully scheduled my son's 1st birthday party before a USA v England World Cup match. We had a short party for him with adult friends (he's one, he doesn't know any different) then watched the game with those same friends. Who doesn't want to watch the US play soccer while eating cake and ice cream?

And yes World Cup 2022 is hosted in Qatar, so they are playing it in November in December to avoid the heat.

This should not have been a movie. TCTS is dead on here. Waaaay too much story to cram into so short of a time.

An absolutely ridiculous movie. But it had guns and explosions and cool aliens and ***** So it was entertaining. Dumb AF but entertaining.

Was good but could have been great with some actual development. Worth the free admission.

This movie was awesome for the first hour and a half. I kept wondering why people hated this so much. Then the last 30 minutes happened and it went off the rails worse than any movie I've ever seen.

Yep, the movie ended with him not saving his future daughter and I'm like, "that wasn't so terrible....wait...THERE'S MORE?" Then that part ended and I was le sad.

Well, I'm glad it was free. It had some semi-entertaining parts, but a pretty dumb movie in the category of futuristic/alien invasion/time travel genre that has some legitimately awesome films. Basically, a much worse version of Edge of Tomorrow.

High points:
- Sam Richardson playing Richard Splett in anything is a plus
- Good suspense building up to reveal the aliens
- Future Muri is easy on the eyes

Low points:
- Horrible dialog. Super predictable and cliche
- Whole lot of things just make no sense.
- It felt really long. Like when they start heading to Russia in the present day, it's like... this movie is still going?

As stated before, first 3/4 of the Movie was corny but entertaining. To me, Had a little bit of edge of tomorrow in it.

Then the last bit got bad fast.

What I don't understand is why they would institute a draft rather than just say hey guys start building mass robots/ai/tech/weapons and just give them a time and place where they first noticed these things and nuke that area or something.
I guess that helps the original timeline but not the one currently under attack??? Have I watched too much MCU lately?

This movie was watchable, but pretty bad. So many movies these days have a cookie cutter feel, a prescription for the ingredients every movie needs. The good movies flow naturally into these needed moments, the bad ones have to contrive everything, there is no flow. This movie was a jumbled mess of contrivances.

I agree, this is a different take on the Edge of Tomorrow story. The difference between this movie and that one is just light years. Edge of Tomorrow was great, this was not.

Two hours of plot holes loosely connected by moderate amounts of charisma, humor, and CGI.

It came across like someone had an intriguing idea at the bar and momentum took over before anyone had a chance to ask if the idea actually worked.

I didn't hate it, but it's destined to be forgotten.
