I think we need to revisit Sisko's resume:

1. Loves baseball
2. Punched Q in the face.
3. Is the Emissary
4. Threw a pah-wraith powered Dukat into the core of a planet
5. Ensured the Romulans entered the Dominion War, by letting Garak do his thing
6. Top Flight Cajun Chef
7. Won the Dominon War
8. Understood that the Marquis were punk terrorists and should be treated as such
9. Threw his girlfriend/future wife into the jail when she tried to punk him by being a smuggler
10. Handled Quark like a Pro
11. All while raising a kid.

But the last picture in your set is Teri Garr, who apparently didn't have the best experience on set and refuses (or at least did) to be associated with the show.
Pity? Lol. You cant pity star a bunch of hotties, lol. Anyway, theyre all probly old enough to be grandmas around here.

Well if you omit the two hottest in all of Star Trek, then yeah, I guess they don't compare as well.

I was thinking how honestly easy it would be to exclude Odo because of his joining the great link....that explains it all away. But that would be kinda rough...we'd all want to know what happened to Odo or see him in the future too. It'd be as bad as if they didn't find a way to return Worf for the TNG movies even though he was DS9/Defiant based at the time.

Also Ezri was cute as fuuuuuuuuuk. And I say that with Terry Farrell as one of my all time crushes.

Eh, Star Trek the original series wasn't my jam

If you'd posted pics of Counselor Troi, now that's a different story.

Speaking of, it was pretty amazing how TNG emphasized mental health. Almost every other episode somebody was in therapy.

Ignoring basic laws of nature cause mental health issues.

Picard is the best Captain. TNG is the best of Star Trek.

Oh dang I'm late to this thread. Hard to top many of the comments here I feel did a great job of summarizing things. So I'll add a few of my thoughts. I believe the tv series can be ranked as follows from best to not so best:

1. TNG. I firmly believe TNG is not only the best Star Trek, but one of the best TV series of all time. On a similar note, "The Best of Both Worlds Part I and II" is, imho, the two best episodes of tv possibly ever. Not only is it just generally awesome, but it introduces likely the best Star Trek villain, involves Q, and is a nice wink at the audience about the dangers of arrogance. It showed that even someone like Picard could fall victim to his own ego.

2. DS9. Fantastic series. Other than Picard, Sisko is my favorite captain. As others have mentioned, the plot can be a bit hard to follow especially at first, and there's a lot of political intrigue to follow and keep up with. Notable episode: "In the Pale Moonlight", where Avery Brooks really shows off his acting chops. It's one of the best Star Trek episodes period. It has the best final monologue/ending.

3. Original Series. I didn't grow up with TOS like some here did - I grew up with TNG so I'm biased. Won't touch too much on this one since others did so very well and showed the OP the top episodes to catch. City on the edge of forever is, like the best of both worlds, one of the best episodes of tv period.

4. Voyager. A lot of hate in this thread for Voyager, but I think it's good. I actually really liked Janeway as a captain. And yes, 7 of 9 was a nice perk I haven't watched Voyager in over a decade, so I can't remember any notable episodes to name.

5. Enterprise. Don't get me wrong, the show is not BAD per se, but the concept fell flat. It's a prequel to TOS. Worth checking out when or if you get through everything else.

6. Discovery. HORRIBLE, contrived, woke political garbage. They screwed up the Klingons and said publicly the Klingons are now a metaphor for Trump supporters. They screwed up so many things even in the very first episode. Threw out any ideas of honor or ethics for captains. And don't get me started on the captain. An in your voice, BLM woman whose in your face about her "blackness" just for the sake of SJW cred. Don't watch this unless you want to get pissed off. Or if you're a liberal who likes that crap.

Picard - haven't watched. Based on a lot of the comments here sounds like I'm not missing much.

Lower decks is a new one I haven't seen either. There's also a "Star Trek: the animated series" that came out in the 80s I think.

-The one where neelix and tuvak fuse together to form a different being and janeway hauls him off to get her crew back essentially murdering him

-The one where the voyager duplicates out perform the original voyager and are coasting like it's nothing back home until they start melting and just barely getting back to voyager before they are destroyed.

-The one where the holodeck doctor has a pretend family and it's not real enough so the holodeck is like "hold my bloodwine" and kills his daughter

-The one where neelix dies and he's brough back due to hot tits borg nano tech and he has to deal with an existential crisis and at the end is all....meh

-The one where harry kim and tattoo face send a message back in time to voyager to save them even though they don't exist because they change that timeline that causes them to send the message in the first place...ah hell nm

The best Star Trek villain is Khan, hands down.

As for best minor characters, Harry Mudd has to be in consideration.

the best Voyager episode to me is Blink of an Eye. The one where they get stuck in orbit of this planet that time passes faster on it than in orbit and Voyager is basically the cause of earthquakes and the planet pushing forward in advancement.

Interest in shopping online, and particularly VR/AR plummets starting at age 55. Finding an interface for the older generation with these technologies remains an undiscovered country.

In some ways, it is the movie of the original series that I enjoy the most. Yes, even more so than The Wrath of Khan. I suppose because it was the movie that was hinted at when the Klingon ambassador in The Voyage Home promised there would be no peace as long as Kirk lives. But also because of a brief exchange of dialogue between Kirk and Chang:

Chang - we need breathing room
Kirk - Earth, Hitler 1938
Chang - I beg your pardon?

And from this thread, I have received more verification that I am literally one of 3 people on planet Earth who thinks the first Star Trek movie is one of the better ones (when I disregard the God-awful Starfleet uniforms).

...and who can forget the DS9 episodes "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost" where the government in a supposedly free society wants to stick needles into all of the citizens and subject them to regular tests?

It even features a weak Federation president that declares a State of Emergency over a minor threat.

I'll take a stab at a "required viewing" list of ST:TOS episodes. This includes the best episodes IMHO, and also some not-so-great-but-still-iconic episodes that are significant because they're often referenced in memes and other shows, like DS9 and Lower Decks. (Obviously, season 3 was a mess.) As for the ST movies, just follow this simple rule: even numbered ST movies are good, odd numbered ST movies aren't.

Season 1
  • The Man Trap
  • Charlie X
  • The Naked Time
  • The Menagerie (parts 1&2)
  • Balance of Terror
  • Arena
  • Space Seed
  • The Devil in the Dark
  • The City on the Edge of Forever

Season 2
  • Amok Time
  • Mirror, Mirror
  • The Doomsday Machine
  • I, Mudd
  • The Trouble With Tribbles
  • The Immunity Syndrome
  • Patterns of Force

Season 3
  • The Enterprise Incident
  • Day of the Dove
  • The Tholian Web

There are a few other episodes "on the bubble", like The Corbomite Maneuver (silly, but tranya!), The Changeling (you can skip ST:TMP if you watch this one), Spock's Brain (arguably the most ridiculous episode ever and therefore very meme-able), and Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (also ridiculous, but significant because of the Civil Rights and race tensions of the 60s when TOS was produced.) Watch Plato's Stepchildren if you want to see the first interracial kiss in TV history. Consider those extra credit homework.

As someone who hasn't watched the TOS in years, I'm using this as a guide for a soft rewatch. Thanks!!!

An unimpeachable list.

I thought Picard was so-so. On the plus side, the writers finally decided to exercise the courage of moving the series forward in time. Not since ST: Nemesis have they done that, instead taking the easier road to fill-in or recycle existing plots. It also made the best effort at continuity, pulling some really deep references from TNG and VOY. Production value was very good. Down side, the plot wasn't engaging in the sense that I really cared about the outcome.

Pluto TV has a star trek channel and I have seen episodes of TNG that I completely forgot about. Be advised it's not a linear progression through the series, they roll through random ones and they seem to repeat every few weeks before they freshen up and run a new slate.

I know for a while TNG and DS9 were on Prime, hopefully that lasts a while. I mentioned Pluto TV because it's 100% free (ad supported like OTA tv) so just wanted to give people the option.
