On one hand I really liked it as well - it certainly took a bold turn, in more ways than one - but on the other hand it's kind of insane how this show has, in total, essentially "killed off" four of its best characters... Gus, Rob, Rishi, and now Eric, all in somewhat unsatisfying fashion, the last two at such random, unexpected times in the season. It just feels a bit too much like they're going for cheap shock value, especially when all we're left with is ****ing Harper, Yasmin, and sad sack Henry.

My thoughts as well.
Amazing episode, but we keep losing characters I like.

I was annoyed with myself that it did not hit me until this episode that Halberstram has to be a reference to American Psycho.

Originally I wasn't sure what I thought about the Epstein angle they introduced in this episode and whether it's kind of brilliant or lazy. The more I've thought about it the more I'm not only on board with it, but it's kind of genius when I think about how it's interwoven with so much of what's happened to so many characters this season. Whitney has been an absolute agent of chaos this season, he'll be in the argument for the best single season character on Industry. I feel like I'm going to need to rewatch this whole season as soon as it's done to piece it all together because I know I haven't been picking up on everything.

If that's the last we see of Eric it's a real bummer, especially since that means it's just that much more screen time for Harper.

To me, if they had ended the series after season 3, it would have been more than fine with the demise of PierPoint. Season 1 was just meah to me, and if it had not been for this board saying good things about the show, I would have quit, but I am glad I did with Season 3 being the best!

After episodes 1-3 of season 4, I almost gave up on the show. It finally picked up with 04-04, and will see it to the end. I agree that they are getting rid of too many main characters just for shock value is not a good thing. Eric and Harper interactions in the show along with Sweet Pea are the best parts of this season.

Do we really need a season 5???......

I will never understand the tragic-but-enduring Harper/Yasmin friendship that the showrunners have been trying to force on us as the heart of the show since season two. When they're simply two of the worst characters on any prestige drama, the plights for whom I could not care about less.

To be clear, I don't need characters to be "likable." But if they're going to be such terrible/ugly/broken human beings, I need them to at least be interesting. Or entertaining. Or funny (intentionally or unintentionally). Or meme-able. Like the Roys on Succession. All utterly despicable people, but each "endearing" in their own ways.

Harper and Yasmin have NONE of those qualities. Like, not even a hint. Yet the show treats them like this iconic, on-again-off-again duo we've been utterly invested in for years now.

It's just so baffling.

Is Industry, even like this, still better than just about everything else on TV? Yes. Is the filmmaking top notch and the soundtrack full of bangers? No doubt.

But good lord the show would be so much better with Rob, Eric, Sweetpea, or literally anyone else at the center of it.

I can't ****ing stand Harper. Such an unlikeable *******.

I don't mind Yasmin, I feel bad for her.

Really good episode that had great tension. Felt very similar to The Wire where the politics and business got mixed up. But the last 5 minutes were terrible. In the real world Harper and Yas would hate each other instead of trauma bonding on mdma at a club. Their relationship is forced on the viewer and it's unnecessary to the show at this point. Girl power I guess.

Agreed with all you said. They have left so much on the table, if you will. Could have gone from a good to great show to riveting and one of the best.... oh well...

One thing to add. Henry, what a waste of character....

Music and soundtrack, yes, top notch!

Did you miss the part where they stood on Yas's dad's sailboat and watched him drift off to drown? They're bonded at this point.

Man I forgot about that. I seem to remember Harper really screwing Yaz over professionally but Yaz is not a serious person so I guess she forgives that stuff. Good call on that. I find Henry to be really interesting and I enjoy his character. The shoot for him is elite.

Where will they even take the show from here? Hopefully not more watching the demise of Henry. Can't stand that storyline.

Idk, episode 7 felt kinda rushed and lazy. Why pour SO much time into showing the dude's manipulation of Henry earlier in the season when it's so obvious what direction they're going and how this ends? Still entertaining and still will watch until the very end but dang I think this thing is running out of gas.

Reminder that tonight's finale is out an hour earlier than usual (7 PM Central as opposed to 8 PM) to make way for the series premiere of DTF St. Louis.

Really good episode. Got dark, too dark at the end though. Wild how Harper was a moral compass compared to Yaz.

That was a really fun season finale, I was pretty tired when I watch last night and I do have a few questions.

1 - Anyone else think Kwabena and Sweetpea should have been paid a bit more than $2MM each for their work? Not only did Sweetpea unravel most of what Tender was doing but she took a significant beating to boot and Kwabena had the connections to put a bow on it. Maybe Harper held a grudge against them and was making that known with the payment amount.
2 - Feels like I missed something when that dinner party was going on. Was that like a new world order situation where a few powerful people are deciding what's going to happen next in the world? I really missed whatever was going on in that room.
3 - Late in the episode was that the girl who was on the passport that was sent to Eric showing she was underage? My assumption this whole time is that she was never actually an underage girl, but that they sent Eric a fake passport to make him think it was. He had no way to call their bluff and couldn't risk it so he walked away.
4 - Did the scene with Henry fishing at the end remind anyone else of Fredo getting killed in The Godfather Part 2? I was wondering who was going to put a gun to his head and dump him in the lake.

1) Yes, seemed pretty light. Felt like Sweetpea basically said the same when she said she could make more money selling video of her feet, although it was more in jest and she didn't make a deal out if it.

2) Britain is being flooded with Muslim immigrants - and with that culture and laws are changing rapidly, and apparently being against that makes you a nazi

3) Yes, I think she is of age, the ID was fake, and they pulled one on Eric. Then Yas' story was the opposite with Harper - that he requested underage girls, he thought she was underage, but she really wasn't. Twist it to paint him in the worst light vs being a guy that got duped

4) Henry's uncle seems like a squared away guy so I didn't really think much of it.

Thought the finale last night was a bore fest

Yaz's storyline is pretty tragic. Just trying to prove her worth to the world and get her nut.

Didn't really care for how they humanized Harper. She's a POS, and to make it seem like she isn't just to show how far off the deep end Yaz is headed, is lazy

Surely we won't see the last of Eric.

Is Rishi really done too? Will we get to see broken leg Rish next season? His storyline is the most dark of them all I think

I don't really understand how Henry was blamed for everything. He was the CEO for, what, like 3 weeks before everything started to unravel. How was he with Tender long enough to be one of the main culprits of their fraud?

This show is so far from what it used to be, not for the better. Again, I'm still entertained and will keep watching, but we're basically left with the worst, least compelling characters and the stories are nothing like the first few seasons. It's gone from a compelling ensemble cast with a variety of relatable stories - young folks new in their careers working hard and partying hard (a life many of us went thru in some way early in our careers), and now we have this weird completely unrelatable British aristocrat/elite stuff with a strange fraudster story

And there is no disappearing in the year 2026 - at least not alive. Whitney would have been toast in less than a week

Also, what was the point of having Kal Penn on this season other than to say "Kal Penn has joined the cast"? They did nothing with the character.

Agree thats it's still entertaining but a bit weird in where they have taken the story. And the quick flash of Whitney right before the end credits means he'll be back in some capacity?

Having lived in England half a decade, I think a lot of the Henry jokes and innuendo fly over the audience's head stateside. Everything they did from the hug Henry had with his Uncle and the weird camera angle of that scene making Henry look maximum little to his Uncle was to make sure everybody understood Henry is pretty much a child and coddled. That's what I took from that scene. He's wearing an ankle bracelet but out fishing in the country side and a bunch of guys are there helping him fish like he's 5.

In The Watch interview below, creators Konrad Kay and Mickey Down definitely make it sound like that's the last we'll see of Eric, Rishi, and Henry, while at one point offhandedly referencing Yasmin's "conclusion," re: her Ghislaine Maxwell-ish arc. In other words, we might very well only be left with Harper, Sweatpea, and Kwabena for season five, along with whatever new characters are added. If so, whittling the cast down to basically its most unlikeable character for the show's final season is certainly a choice...

They should have moved on from Harper at the end of season 2. Her family background had been covered, and the finale twist of Eric knifing her in the back with her own deception from the beginning of season 1 was beautiful writing. That should have ended her; her arc was done. Eric was a great antagonist; you keep him and keep threading in new blood/characters. He could be likable at times, he could be absolutely horrible at times, he could be both at the same time. Harper is one dimensional
