The first one is just as inaccurate. Do you hate that one as well? If so, I'm not sure what you were expecting.
Great point

Plots for both were silly.

But both movies were great, fun, entertaining flics!

I FINALLY just watched Maverick.

I've always felt like Top Gun was overrated. It was a an ok movie to me, but very very overrated.

I freakin LOVED Maverick. It blows TG outta the water and is an enjoyable movie start to finish. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it might actually be one of my top 20 all time favorite movies to watch now. Really enjoyed it.

I watched it for the first time last night, too. Very enjoyable. In an environment that is dominated by comic book movies, I can see why it performed so well at the box office.

yeah, she is just flat out gorgeous.

good enjoyable movie, and required a lot less 'suspension of disbelief' than most, it seems.

i really wasnt a huge fan of the first one, only watched it once, it was pretty enjoyable.... never watched it again until a few months ago, and, it was enjoyable.

frankly, its just nice to see a sequel that is good anymore, after so many absolute DOG ****ING **** sequels lately.

Agreed about getting a good sequel.

It was also refreshing to see a fun movie, that is void of some sort of societal/political statement. Just a fun story.

LOL, really, or are you being sarcastic? I expected A2 to be both pretty entertaining...and also have some bs themes...

The sarcasm meter is strong in this one.

Same theme as the first movie. Very very visually impressive.

I forgot to mention that the scene with Val Kilmer at his home was extremely well done ... a nice tribute without being too maudlin. As was the connection between Mav and Rooster.

I did not recognize Jean Louisa Kelly as Kilmer's wife. Saw her name in the credits and couldn't figure out who she was in the movie!

i can handle that...thx

but i will say all those nature lovers never had to deal with the coons, possums, owls, and armadillos i have to deal with.

greed and the 'welfare mentality' is definitely not unique to humans.

You got a modified shuttle with big enough seats to get them in place to pilot it up to a transport ship?

I'm a computer programmer/SW/IT expert. You think you have it bad every single movie contains huge computer inaccuracies it seems unless it is set in middle earth. But I just suspend disbelief and roll with it. You can overanalyze it, or enjoy it. Your choice.

I didn't think it was bad, but I did find it overrated. It seemed like a pretty standard action movie to me. Not a waste of money by any means, but not the greatest action movie ever. I think a lot of the reaction for the movie is because we have been so starved for movie theater movies the last couple of years. When we actually got one, people went crazy... Also, in today's world, every reaction has to be over the top (see OP).

This and nostalgia. Seeing Top Gun in1986 and then the Blue Angels on Lake Washington set me towards AV

Top Gun was all about the one liners and the back drop of the Cold War. In the context of 1986, Top Gun was just a great I love America movie.

You mean technology doesn't work where you have a camera in a public place and you just keep saying "enhance" to zoom in on a person's face?

Top Gun was actually MORE inaccurate

they used a green screen and no actors were in any of the planes

in Maverick, all the actors took months of flight school training courses and could fly their own prop planes, and were in the back seat of the F-18 turning on the cameras
