For as much of a pain in the butt it was getting out there at times, I've seen some pretty epic shows at CWMP. Off the top of my head these stand out:

Foo Fighters/Weezer ('05)
Radiohead ('01, '03, '08)

Seemed like Radiohead always made it a point to hit Houston on their tours, but they played Toyota Center last time which I skipped. I usually prefer open air amphitheaters to arenas.
this reminded me of the last time I saw radiohead outdoors. Can't believe it's been 30 years. I'm old.

I love REM but Radiohead definitely set a tough standard for them that day.

I've never seen REM live and probably never will which sucks. What a lineup with those two bands.

Sounds like when Alice In Chains opened for Van Halen. Good luck following that up.

That show and the "Use Your Illusion" Tour were definitely the seminal concerts of my high school days.

I was at those 01 and 03 Radiohead shows. So amazing! I also saw when they came to Toyota Center and it paled in comparison. That had a lot to do with the fact that it was the King Of Limbs tour so the setlist was heavy with that album.

Yeah the one year I did Bonnaroo was around the time of King of Limbs, and they were pretty boring especially for a headliner.

Seeing Charles Bradley open the next day on the same stage at noon made up for it though. R.I.P

Green Tour @ G. Rollie White 1989 - that was probably the peak and they didn't tour for 5 years after that
I'm impressed, the Internet has the set list and everything - https://www.remtimeline.com/1989.html

Wow, they played 3 encores. I knew they played in College Station at some point along with some other great bands prob back in the 80s. Also surprised they didn't tour for so long considering how (more) popular they got a year or two later.

I saw Live at Rudder in '99 when they were still good.

REM at G Rollie is still one of my favorite shows ever, also saw them earlier in the year, March '89 at The Summit. Great year for an REM fan, and just love the Green album.

So my sister had an extra ticket to tonight's Katy Perry concert. I've never been to a pop concert before so out of pure morbid curiosity I said, I'll go. I'll report back if it truly is as big of a trainwreck as the internet is saying it is.

Sturgill Simpson next Tuesday in Charlotte. Debating whether I want to also get a ticket for the Monday show, as he seems to change up his setlist a little bit every night.

Hopefully she has continued to incorporate those slick dance moves that have been making their way across the internet recently.

That live show at Rudder was great. I was never a big fan, but got dragged to that one and it was one of the better shows I'd ever been to at the time.

I started a couple of years after that REM show at G Rollie, and folks were still talking about how good it was. Violent Femmes played at DeWare my first semester, that was a fun show too.

I am seeing him in Chicago on Friday. I am excited for it even though I just saw him here about 6 months ago. I'd go both nights if I had the time and money, even if it is the same set. His band is incredible, Laur Joarmets is just crushing it right now.

I was at that Toto show. John Parr (Naughty Naughty was his "hit" at the time) opened for them.

I also saw R.E.M. at G. Rollie, but 2 years earlier in 1987. They also played 3 encores that night.

Saw REM at ACL in 2004 or 2005 back when it actually had good music. Was an amazing show and I was just a casual fan.

This will be my third time seeing him in the last seven months. I looked at the setlists he's been running in 2025 - a lot of the same stuff from last year, which isn't a bad thing, but he's doing some different covers.

Going to see Shakey Graves in August at White Oak in Houston. This will be the 4th or 5th time seeing him, and really enjoyed his previous concerts. He puts on a good show, and it is fun to watch him during the songs when it is just him with the guitar and the suitcase that has the drum and cymbal that he works with his feet. I don't know how he can sing, play the guitar, and the drum/cymbal at the same time.

"The Song is Over" The b****s on these bands.

Quote:

The Who's first farewell tour, known as "The End," took place in 1982 and was a major event, with the band announcing their departure from the music scene.

Ok so lets get this part out of the way first. Yes she did the horrible "lightsaber" fighting and awkward dance sequence that was viral all over the internet last week. Yes it was lame and cheesy in person too. But did it ruin the show, HELLLLL NO

That was a fun concert to go to. She's a damn good entertainer. Yes its bubblegum/millennial pop. Of course it was super cringe at times. Thats just part of the package. I forgot just how many Katy Perry songs I knew and it was nostalgic blast hearing them all. it sounded like she was singing most of them so I'll give her props for still having singing chops. The production was over the top but as long as you didn't take yourself or this show too seriously, you would have a great time taking it all in. I didn't have "watching Katy Perry riding a giant robot butterfly" on my bucketlist, but I am very glad to have seen it. Having never been to a pop concert before, that was the loudest I've ever heard a concert crowd in my life. Having an arena full of screaming girls definitely amps the noise factor.

Now as far as trainwrecks go, the opening act was Rebecca Black. Yes, the girl who was a viral meme 15 years ago for singing "Friday." Her 30 minute set was basically her attempt to create gay-night-club anthems. It was occasionally out of tune and off beat. She wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either. The worst part was she didnt sing Friday. It was remixed as background music while she twerked on the back of her twerking male dancers.
