Watched all three available episodes last night and really like it so far. As others have said, it has the trademark Bill Lawrence bittersweet vibe. Quick hits for me:
  • Reminds me of how naturally likeable Jason Segal is. Makes me realize I've missed seeing him in stuff.
  • Really shows Harrison Ford's sense of humor. I always assumed it was there but it never made it into many movies.
  • Seems like they changed Jessica Williams' Gabby a bit from the pilot. Originally, she seemed to be an airy, California flaky type. Seems like she gets further away from that with each episode.
  • Ted McGinley may be my favorite character. As Christa Miller's husband, he's in the show but not really in the show. He'll suddenly appear in a scene and do a quick drive-by (sometimes literally) and then disappear. Bill Lawrence likes to incorporate running gags in his shows so we'll see if this continues; hope so.

It literally just occoured to me that Ted McGinley is in this show.

Wow. I haven't seen him in 30 years since Married with Children and didn't know who it was.
I don't know if it's an inside joke on Shrinking but Ted McGinley is kind of notorious for replacing famous characters on popular TV shows. He replaced Ron Howard on Happy Days, Gopher on The Love Boat and Marcy's original husband on Married with Children.

He will always and forever be Stan Gable to me.

Absolutely! First thing I think of any time I see him.

Digging it. Perfect role for Segel. Nice bittersweet and comedic balance as others noted.

Anyone still watching? I cannot believe they convinced Harrison Ford to do this but I think he completely stole the show last episode

I thought this was easily the best episode yet with most of the plot lines all coming to a head. I can't wait to see how the aftermath in each case is handled in the next episode.

And yes, when Paul shows up to the party and immediately tries to turn around and leave after seeing Liz was hilarious!

It's one of my favorite romcoms, but in Morning Glory there's a very meta scene where Rachel McAdams is yelling at Ford's for phoning in performances after a legendary career and gets him admit he's just doing this for the money.

Always kinda cracked me up as the guy who is so gruff but would light up when there's a chance to still act and do his job, but you know is just in it for the money at this point.

Yep, still watching. Easily one of the best shows on TV right now. And somehow, an 80-year-old Harrison Ford is a major reason why.

Just got to watch the newest episode. We are loving this show. Raw dogging it and the piano scenes killed me.

Meant to post when this thread first popped up. I watch very little TV, but I've had a free Apple TV subscription for the last year and finally decided to start using it.

My BF and I are really enjoying this, too. We laugh out loud, which can be difficult for a tv show to make me do.

I think I'm going to have to actually pay for Apple TV, at least for long enough to finish this series.

I thought woman who plays Liz was Ellen Pompeo in the first episode. Not only do they look alike, but their voices are very similar.

I am really enjoying this show, but it's not on par with Bill Lawrence's other hits. The performances are spectacular and the show does what it sets out to do, but Shrinking lacks the whimsy his other shows have, and that whimsy is what makes the heartfelt moments hit so hard.

JD? Silly. Cougartown? Everything is silly. Ted Lasso? His extreme positivity is whimsical. In this show, we get just a sad Jason Segel.

I sound like a broken record, but this show just gets better every week. I could do without ending multiple episodes where a character is talking to themselves and admits something someone else regretfully overhears, but other than that it's incredible how fast this has become one of my favorites.

This show is so good. Great balance in the cast. Its not too heavy or campy. Slides right into a sweet spot. My favorite thing "on" right now.

Is it fair to say Jason Segel is underrated? He's obviously had success with I Love You Man, HIMYM, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc. but I still feel like he doesn't get the recognition he deserves for how damn funny he is. His nuanced facial expressions and body language in this show are just as funny as the actual dialogue, to me.

Loving this right now. Wife and I got a few episodes behind and caught up tonight. The, "Oh that's great. We went to Maine!" line absolutely killed us.

This show beautifully walks this Bill Lawrence line of, "We're all broken and just trying to get through it" combined with brilliant humor in the dialog.

I'm still enjoying the show as well, and I agree totally about Jason Segel. He is really believable in this role. I like the Gaby character, too.

But does anyone else feel like the scenes are sometimes edited and spliced back together out of order? I've always felt like the timing of some scenes was off, and last night it was really noticeable in the last three or four scenes with Paul and his daughter.

In the first of the scenes, she is sitting at a desk, presumably reading over his papers. Compared to their previous scenes together, she seems angry/upset but we don't know why. I could see it on her face. Then the next scene they meet with the attorney, and she seems fine. She admits the document review process was uncomfortable, but she doesn't seem angry. Then the scene (or maybe it was two scenes) after that is when she asks him to come live with them, and then you see her packing because she's upset he refused. She is really angry in these scenes. And her reaction to him not wanting to move is way over the top, at least in the context of the other scenes we saw.

Something was just off with the continuity of this storyline. Maybe it's just more noticeable because it is such a serious and emotional one that escalated very quickly.

Jimmy and Gaby's back and forth dialogue always cracks me up, especially leading up to where they hooked up. They each handled it differently but kept with the innuendos up into Jimmy had his heart to heart with his late wife.

I wasn't sure and took a break then watched the last 3 back to back to back.

It's really getting good. Too bad the seasons are so short.

Obligatory "this might have been the best episode yet" post, but I think it really was. Multiple great one-liners, but also some legit good drama too. I'm so glad we're getting at least one more season, if not many more, hopefully.

Loved Harrison Ford staying being to scare the USC college kid. Also as others have pointed out, Jason is really acting his tail off. I encourage everyone to rewatch his last exchange of the episode with his daughter, when he's not speaking you can literally see his Adam's Apple move up and down like he's having to swallow hard just to get through it

Like Jason Segel, and loved Scrubs. When Lawrence is on, his shows just strike the perfect balance of comedy and drama/emotion.

Same here. Definitely want to check it out based on Bill Lawrence's body of work.
I also had a soft spot for Cougar Town too.

Bobby Cobb was one of my favorite TV characters.

Loved that line. Actually repeated it back to my BF when we watched it a few minutes ago. Loved Gaby's meltdown at the art show, too. Every woman has wanted to do something like that.
