It is. We noticed that too. It's played a big part in a lot of the "relationship defining" moments for her.

I think that diner that she dances with Gordon Ford the same diner, and table, she got engaged, had wedding Breakfast, etc. with Joel.
I also think this flash forward was a conceit to those viewers who want Midge and Joel back together. They've already foreshadowed multiple boyfriends and husbands for Midge but she and Joel still have a connection all these years later. (So far, the only flash forward I didn't mind, except you know for Joel inexplicably being in PRISON.)TequilaMockingbird said:We watched the episode again but I didn't catch anything that clued me in one way or the other. Like you said, the fact that it appears to be a minimum security facility would lead you to believe he's there for some kind of white-collar crime.TCTTS said:boogieman said:
I was wondering the same thing too. Felt like we missed something.
I'm guessing Joel goes down when the gambling parlor beneath the Button Club gets raided?
The explanation of what happened on the boat had me rolling.
"So I'm a pirate now."
I seriously doubt he spends 25+ years in prison, or we see him go down in the '61 timeline, but who knows. He made it sound like a white collar prison, and I think he mentioned something about 48 months? After buying the church, I wonder if he eventually becomes a big New York club/real estate guy, then gets mixed up in something in the '80s?

We started watching this series just a little while back. Watched a couple of episodes each night. What a great show! The final season and finale did not suck!
I thought it was done! Very cool!GreasenUSA said:dmart90 said:

You will be happy to know that there are 2 episodes still left to air.

I'm nervous about that important phone call she got at the end.
I've been reading a fan message board. A theory that is floating around is the call is about Lenny's death. Midge finally gets her shot on the Gordon Ford show and, inspired by the emotion of his passing and remembering everything he had ever taught her, gives the performance of her lifetime, propelling her into the stardom we've been waiting to see.jeffk said:
.... So my vote is something with Lenny; Midge quoting him earlier to her girlfriends was sort of a hint maybe?

Lenny Bruce death (they'd be compressing timelines here but IRL Princess Margeret's visit to the US was in 1965, so they're already compressing timelines)
