Loved it. Really enjoyed seeing ALL the variations of Spider-Man from old shows to video games. Also the surprise cameos were legit too.

Watching the first one with the kids tonight and noticed that the spider that bites Miles is shown glitching a couple of times. No idea why it never occurred to me that it was from another dimension like the other spiderpeople in the film.

Saw this today on a whim because I got tired of working and just decided to start my weekend early. I never saw the first movie of this installment so it was probably a little weird of me to choose this but nothing else looked good. I just don't care much at all for superhero movies.

But this was pretty great! I had to fight through the first hour because I kept nodding off, finally got up and took a lap outside and came back awake, and man from that point forward I was locked tf in. Really fun story and incredible visuals. The score was pretty rad too.

The end started to annoy me because it got a little "Lord of the Rings 19 endings" , but each one was well done and we even had some great surprise twists near the very end.

Jake Johnson as a voice actor made me really happy.

Flawlessly blending live action actors with the crazy animation was impressive as hell.

I'll definitely go see the conclusion next year.

Also: anyone that gets mad that people are posting minor spoilers on a movie discussion thread when the movie has already been released and they haven't seen it yet, but they are for some reason still reading the thread? Morons.

Jake Johnson is great in the first one too. You need to see it asap.

I am amazed at how many of you guys have the free time to go to a movie theater and see the same film multiple times. I am clearly doing something wrong.

Well. You wanted to make a difference and make money. The rest of us were okay with just making money. Takes less time.

And when Miles/Spider-Man are having their simultaneous spider sense Miles' background colors change from Prowler to Spider-Man themed.

Finally saw it last night. Love it!

Personally, the first one is one of my all-time favorite movies (judge me accordingly, I don't care - but that "what's up danger" sequence is simply incredible to me). This one has not surpassed it, but I think there is a lot to unpack and it will require multiple viewings.

My deepest apologies that you have to move your finger for a few extra seconds to scroll past some extra posts, on a single night, just one time in, like, every other blockbuster movie thread. I can only imagine how harrowing that must be, and how tired your finger must get.

Seriously, though, "meaningless" is subjective, people here ask me all the time when reactions are dropping, and not everyone wants to go sifting through Twitter to find them. Also, I don't find that they "distract" from discussion at all, seeing as they're often one of the main drivers of discussion, in the week or two leading up to a release.

I personally love seeing teh consolidated responses from twitterverse… I don't twit so it's nice to see without twitting.

So, will Gwen die on Miles as a canon event in 3? Will he have to choose between Gwen and his father?

jeffk

IDK. They're not from the same universe, so that makes it hard to classify as a canon event for him. And the Gwen death thing usually applied to Peter Parkers so I feel like Miles-Gwen is uncharted territory.

Anyone been dissecting this since it came out for download?

I've got a theory I'm working on: So, Spot was able to kick himself into himself. I'm guessing in that last Alchemex seen, he was able to find a way into Mile's mind. I don't know all the fallacies in my theory, but that's what I got.

Finally got around to watching this. I loved the first one, but this movie was a tremendous disappointment. The animation was still great, but the story was awful. I can't believe they dragged this story out over 2 films. Two and a half hours and almost nothing happened?

I agree with that. I wasn't disappointed with it at all - characters and animation were incredible and engaging. They just packed too much into the middle film of a trilogy trying to set up the finale.

Finally got to see this and absolutely loved it!

Question for TCTTS: do Toby and Andrew get residuals from this from the reused footage?

After realizing Across was on Netflix, I went back and watch Into... The first one was so much fun and completely different than anything else. Very easy to love.

Across is not bad, but definitely relied on way too much Spider porn while leaving plot holes.

It really felt like it was a box-checking movie with hollow, meaningless characters shoehorned into it.

The multiverse concept is a cop-out MacGuffin which does a bad job at covering up for a lot of deficiencies in the movie.

I watched Across the Spider-verse on a flight last night and loved it.

It might not be as good as the first one, but that's no insult. Into the Spider-verse was one of the best surprise movies of the past decade. Part II was a fun ride and I'd forgotten a third movie is planned, so the cliff hanger ending was a delightful surprise. I love the way they let family and friend relationships carry this story. Despite being a massive multiversal scope, the relationships at the heart of Across the Spider-Verse make it feel refreshingly grounded compared to other super hero movies that are increasingly lost in the spectacle of foiling the latest villainous plan.
Thanks and gig'em

Love it. The dynamic between Miles and his parents continues to hit all the right notes.
