  • Rogue One - Vader Hallway
  • Field of Dreams - People will come, Ray
  • Jurassic Park - First reveal of the Brachiosaurs
  • Children of Men - Battle in the refugee camp
  • The Dark Knight - Bank Robbery

There are plenty I could come up with if I sat and really thought about it, but those came to mind fairly quickly

Great thread! Difficult to decide.

In no particular order:

1. Kung Fu Hustle, first fight scene. For the uninitiated, skip to about 1:00. The ruthless Axe Gang has moved in on a small town, but unbeknownst to everyone, there are three kung fu masters that live in the town.

2. Return of the Jedi - Luke finally defeating Vader, then resisting the call of the dark side. "I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

3. The Thing - interrogation scene (NSFW)

4. The Raid 2 - my favorite car chase (NSFW)

Can't decide a 5th right now.

This is a nearly impossible question to answer, and there are already a bunch of good ones already listed. Here are a few more that I think deserve consideration:

I think my favorite scene has to be

1: AL Neri closes the door as Kay watches and realizes her husband has not only become the most powerful crime boss in the country, but that he probably had his brother in law murdered. That scene was just so well done and concluded the perfect film perfectly.

Other notable scenes for me in no particular order:

Heat : Bank shoot out

Dead Poets Society: Oh Captain, my Captain stand on desk

Godfather: Baptism

Empire: I am your father

1. Raiders - Truck chase scene (The music, the sequence...made me want to be Indy as a kid)
2. Jurassic Park - T-Rex breaks out (Was in awe of this scene as a kid seeing it in the theater for the first time)
3. Back To The Future - Lighting bolt at the clocktower (Most memorable musical score for me)
4. Gettysburg - Charge down Little Round Top (Love the music here, sets such an emotional tone)
5. Top Gun Maverick - Mav and Rooster getting to the F14 and taking off (Just so damn fun with the right amount of humor)

This is a really tough question to nail down but here's my attempt

  • Opening scene of Inglorious Basterds with Hans interrogating the farmer
  • The last scene of Short Term 12 when they're talking about seeing Marcus at the coffee shop
  • The part in Oldboy where Woo-jin reveals the details of his decades-long conspiracy
  • When George Clooney finds Brad Pitt in the closet in Burn After Reading
  • When Marianne is watching Heloise react to the orchestra at the end of Portrait of a Lady on Fire

OP did ask for our personal all time favorite scenes. I guess A Few Good Men just doesn't make the cut for some people

Mine are quite obviously all mindless action which any time I even hear them I will stop and watch.

And given the sheer amount of times I have watched them - I figured that constituted my all time favorite movie scenes.

    But yours is good too

A couple of great ones from No Country for Old Men.

This one is fantastic. Probably the better scene. Javier Bardem was a menacing villain.

Not as GOOD of a scene, but maybe my favorite. One of the most important, I think.

    Quote:

3.) When John Miller (Hanks) tells Private Ryan (Matt Damon) to earn this, after being lethally shot…and then seeing Old Man Ryan crying at Miller's cross grave and telling his wife to tell him that he earned the life he got.
The thing about this scene is that when his wife gets to his side and reads Capt. Miller's name out loud, you can see she had no idea who he was. Ryan lived the rest of his life keeping all that to himself, presumably not sharing it with anyone.

Two Towers: the siege of Helm's Deep
Black Hawk Down: Gordon and Shugart request to secure the 2nd crash site
    Jaws: the U.S.S. Indianapolis monologue
Top Gun: Maverick: Mav's test run shows the mission is possible

Edit: Last of the Mohicans chase scene and fight probably replaces BHD, totally left this one off.

Picking 5 is tough with a lot of good ones already, but one that came to mind is in Patriot Games when Harrison Ford is looking in at his daughter after the wreck and silently rage-crying. No words spoken.

I read somewhere that they had some more elaborate scene planned, and he told them, "just zoom in on me."

    Lost in Translation final scene

Palm Springs scene where Nyles and Sarah are tripping on mushrooms and see the dinosaurs
