To Kill a Mockingbird: Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passin'.

From Here to Eternity: Japs attack Pearl Harbor. Notice how prominent the clock is. Every American knew what time the attack was.

Twelve O'Clock High: The General (Gregory Peck) began his attempt to bring discipline to his outfit by focusing on the poor record of one pilot; Peck pointedly called him a coward. Later in the movie Peck learns the guy is in the hospital, having flown several missions with a broken back. Peck reluctantly visits him in the hospital.

Wow... I completely forgot to put one of my favorite scenes of all time from one of my favorite movies. That's what happens when you answer quickly, I guess. This scene just always seemed to perfectly mirror that excitement and nervousness of connecting with someone for the first time. I love when he leaves and she tells him to wish her a happy Valentines day, that clip with the snow falling as he walks away and the music kicking in. Just a scene that has always connected with me. I guess I've just always identified so closely with the character:

Some great ones mentioned. A few I don't think I've seen…

1. The Matrix bank lobby. When that music kicks in…

2. Return of the Jedi battle over the Sarlaac pit. I get goosebumps with that little salute from Luke every time.

3. The intro getaway in Baby Driver, straight adrenaline.

4. John waiting in the shadows of his house for Viggo's goons in John Wick. The moment we all went "oh THAT'S what this movie is gonna be".

5. Casino Royale the parkour chase. This ain't your dad's Bond movie.

Been catching up on the thread and everyone's input. A handful of times I've thought "yea that's close and might be in my top 5." Then you posted this scene from Good Will Hunting and it is immediately cemented in my top 5 scenes.

Such an interesting topic to think of top 5 scenes, as they can be so fleeting, even if remarkable.

"Scent of a Women" - Pacino's speech at the disciplinary hearing

"There Will Be Blood" - milkshake, opening scene (no dialogue). DDL was remarkable in this film. So many great scenes, not the best one, but this one always stuck with me…

"Seven" - what's in the box?

"Blue Chips" - Nolte's speech at the post-game press conference at the end of the movie.

"Wolf of Wall Street" - quaalude scene; here's part of it…

Knockaround Guys: Vin's fight scene

I think this one gets my vote for best ass-kicking ever in a movie. No CGI, no crazy martial arts, just a guy that all of sudden realizes he wants no part of what just stepped up to him but it's too late. Then a straight beat down without any fan fair, no hype, and zero trash talk after it starts.

Stops just short of killing him and walks away. Love it.

I tear up when I watch Forth Erolingus.

So much for them to process when they see what's going on at Gondor and realize what they are about to have to do.

Fantastic scene.
