I can't believe this doesn't have more stars and agreements. Of everything mentioned on this thread, this is the only one I truly think could be remade and be amazing. One of my favorite books growing up, and something that a modern day remake could really enhance.

Hollywood is 0 for 3 on capturing the theme of "I am Legend". Maybe they can get it right next time.

Revenge of the Nerds

But this time, the Nerds are the bullies = Plot Twist! (so dumb)

Best idea - stop remaking and create new/original content

That one is called American Pie: Beta House

I'll be honest, I don't watch enough bad old movies to know which ones I would want to be remade

I think classic Sci-Fi that would benefit from today's effects. Like Forbidden Planet

I like the idea of remaking old movies that were bad, but based on good concepts, rather than remaking good old movies.

Modern movies and especially remakes tend to suck, or at least suck the life out of good classics. Cgi is still largely ineffective, at least as applied, and pc/woke/sensibilities take most of the fun/grit/character out of things too.
I was just thinking about this the other day and two movies came to mind. Great concepts, but the production value really lacked, to me, are Highlander and Terminator.

Great movie but the ending totally has to change.

Star Wars: Phantom Menace but without the whiny Anakin, Jar Jar Binks, and the title itself. Probably less intergalactic political complexity while they're at it.

I thought Star Wars was already remade.

War Games.

With AI fears (and the reality of powerful tools in the hands of teens) and some AI creators/godfathers coming out and warning against their own creation, War Games could be relevant, compelling, and perhaps a revelation to a young generation that didn't grow up thinking about nuclear annihilation.

Godfather III

It would never happen but there is so much potential with this. They could completely toss out the old 3 as if it never happened and redo it entirely.

Pacino can still reprise as Michael. Duvall can come back as Tom. No Immobilare. No cousin affair.

I don't think 3 is as bad as some people like to say, but I think a total redo would be pretty damn cool especially with both Michael and Tom living into old age.

I think a straight-to-video sequel / remake has already been done.

I would like to see some of the older war movies remade. Patton and some of the ones from the 50's.

Redo some of the 50 to 70's westerns with John Wayne and Eastwood?

Honey I shrunk the kids would be good.

Debbie does Dallas.

Get a young hot starlet like Alexandra Daddario or Sydney Sweeney to play the titular role.

Agree on westerns (the new True Grit was great, and I think a similar take on the Searchers would be fantastic), but with regard to Patton in particular, I just don't see anyone coming close to matching George C. Scott's performance.

I do not go to see a lot of movies anymore, so my opinion is probably worthless. I would not not ming seeing some good old movies remade if they stuck to the original scripts but updated the settings when called for. An example would be the various remakes of King Kong. The dialog is so similar in many versions, going all the way back to the silent movie, that you can almost recite it with the actors.

Twelve Angry Men

12 jurors from all different modern political persuasions hear a case and argue it out in the jury room. Instead of a teenager accused of murder the case involves a cop being tried for murder after a man he arrests ends up dying.

Denzel Washington plays the Henry Fonda role.

I think some 70's/80's movies would do well remade:

"Rolling Thunder"

Vietnam Vet vs. murderous outlaws set along the Texas border. Could be a Tarantino treatment.

"The Keep"

Nazis vs. Satan set in an ancient castle during WW2. Great book btw, the movie was Meh.

"Southern Comfort"

Natural Guard weekend warriors vs. Cajuns in the swamps of Louisiana

I'd like to see a Frat Pack version of "Three's Company"... alas probably a few years too late.
Kristin Wiig as Chrissy
Tina Fey as Janet maybe
One of the Wilson brothers as Jack Tripper
Ben Stiller as Jack's buddy Larry
Will Ferrell as Mr. Furley
Molly Shannon as Lana
Vince Vaughn as some sort of rival to Jack

Great choice! I read that book several times in high school, but thought the movie sucked ass.
