I was test driving cars a couple of weeks ago and gave great pause to a 4x4 with a stick shift, then realized I wasn't sure I could still drive one. Drove a manual transmission from 1990-2014, but have been an auto guy since then.

Nobody could keep it together at the dick jokes.

I learned to drive in the country on my mom's old Beetle, dad's F150, and sister's RX7, all manuals. Lots of fun. But having one in Dallas traffic these days, probably not so fun.

Something I thought during Will's vision of Holly and the other kids locked into the upside down and now think even more after watching this trailer is that they are borrowing ideas from Stephen King's Dark Tower series (cue the guy with the joke about hating the end of DT books).

In the 5th Dark Tower book, it's revealed that the forces of evil are using people with a particular mental skill talent to "break" the beams that hold the titular Dark Tower in place, which, if it fell, would unmake the world. The people doing so are prisoners, but they live in sort of a virtual reality where pretty much any fantasy comes true, like about what Holly was experiencing in the Creel House.

The second DT book famously has three doors on a beach suspended in the air, with no supports, that allow passage from one world to another. the door in the forest that Holly and Max step through really emulates that.

In addition to Will not being so gay this season, the Vecna suit is much better and less gay. Season 4 Vecna suit was really lame. He looked more like the Gimp than an inter dimensional baddie.

thought i could wake up to new episodes this morning, have to wait until 7 central.

Good! I probably won't watch them until my kids are back in school anyway.

I did get a record from WSQK this morning. Compiled by Rockin' Robin.

They weren't going to release them until after their NFL games were done, unfortunately. I checked last night after putting my son's toys together, and everyone went to bed, and I was very disappointed. I thought it was 8 pm eastern last night.

Thought 6 was better than 7.

They're decent enough.

I still love the little homages to 80s movie and pop culture. Mrs. Wheeler turning into Sarah Connor's with her daughter.

Great nod to Steve Alford being at Indiana.

If they wanted to make Will's coming out matter, we should have seen the future Vecna imposed on him - that would have been some brave TV.

Really liked the science of Vecna being in another world though, and the Upside Down being the bridge.

The reveal of the the Abyss was fantastic, and was right in front of our faces in the Vecna flashback at the end of Season 4 but we just all assumed it was the upside down. Although I have to question how Henry could possibly know that he wouldn't destroy both worlds by crashing them into each other the way he plans. I'm assuming he wants to go on living.

Will's reveal was Avengers:Endgame "girl power " cringe level. The only saving grace would have been if when Will said he had a crush on someone, they had cut away to Steve saying, "Hey look, I'm flattered, I get it, but I don't feel the same way."



My biggest LOL was Murray briefly threatening Steve with his karate powers after Robin dissed Steve on his sexual prowess.

These last 3 episodes.. the dialogue got really really bad.

WAY more "on the nose" conversations and dialogue explanations of things that should have been explained in previous seasons. Couple that with the broadway play that was needed to literally create some semblance of a cohesive backstory for Henry to be able to end this loosely tossed together finale season, and it becomes pretty clear they had no idea they were going to go 5 seasons. And even if they knew what the ultimate ending would be, they had no idea how they were going to get there and wrap up all of the subplots, side stories, and holes.

While not GOT finale bad, and while still decently enjoyable, this season has been a disappointment. And I think that will show more and more true when rewatching season 1 after this season ends. They will feel like completely different shows, and all of the charm from the first season will be shown to be missing now.

I was also bummed they didn't kill off Nancy and Jonathan when they had the chance.

I did like them dragging Mr. Clark into the upside down. I feel like he's probably as excited as that time on Game of Thrones when Qyburn picked up the zombie's hand and it was still moving.
