That really was a good comic. And although it's Supergirl, which many people may initially discount, if they do justice to the comic book material and do as good a job of marketing as they did with Superman, then I think they'll have another winner on their hands.

I did read an article the other day where Fillion was talking about all the scenes he has in Lanterns with Aaron Pierre (John Stewart). So, i'm not saying you're wrong, but that might rule out your theory. He also mentioned he never had any scenes with Kyle Chandler (Hal Jordan).

Hopefully the trailer really highlights how different this will be from the Superman movie we all just watched

Based off this, I'm guessing the next, post Superman, post Supergirl crossover movie in the "Superman Saga" will release at some point in the second half of 2027/first half of 2028 at the latest. All indications point to it being a combined sequel starring both characters...

Sorry, I should have clarified... yes, it's live-action, and yes, this is super (no pun intended) fast. It's basically the sequel to this past summer's Superman, though for whatever reason Gunn is refusing to say it's Superman 2. That said, Gunn recently revealed that he finished a detailed, 60-ish page treatment for the movie a few weeks ago, and is now in the middle of fleshing out that treatment into the eventual, 110-page-or-so script itself. So he almost assuredly started the process before Superman hit theaters, should be done with the script in the next couple of months, and then filming looks to begin next spring. Dude is just super prolific and always has been. Now, we get a "Super" movie three summers in a row...

7.11.2025 = Superman
6.26.2026 = Supergirl
7.09.2027 = Man of Tomorrow

Most speculation seems to be that it'll co-star Lex and Superman in some kind of team-up (at least begrudgingly/temporarily) to fight a greater, more menacing foe (with the most of the cast from Superman and Supergirl joining to help). But yeah, my guess is the title is supposed to double as a moniker for both characters.

I'm not familiar with the studio but they have an old reel on their site that's a pretty phenomenal mix of stop motion/puppets and CG. Super interested to see whatever this is going to be.

That animation reel really is incredible. I first saw it when news of this project initially dropped, and it's just so rare when something like that hits - a completely new kind of style - that you've never seen before. It's honestly way cooler, and far more of a leap to me, than the first time I saw the Into the Spider-Verse animation. Hopefully this story will be just as good.

Yeah, it's really fantastic work. I'm super curious to see what direction they go with this stylistically given the studio's past work, this just jumped way up the list of my anticipated projects.
