Agree.

I wasn't turned off by the first trailer as some of the online critics were, but I understood their point that the first trailer just reeked too much of James Gunn and Guardians. But this trailer is much better, and I think is a good indication (hopefully) the movie will stand on its own. The first trailer didn't feel like the comic book that this movie is based on, but this trailer definitely does. Now, I'm legit excited to see this movie

And Lobo looks great.

Lobo sort of looks like Beetlejuce on roids.

Looks fun, but does have a good bit of Guardians vibe in there.

Wonder Woman?

Deadline originally said it was for the character Maxima. Then Gunn refuted the story, so Deadline changed the article to a "key role," while maintaining all other details. But then they deleted the tweet above, though the story is still up...

So, yeah, I have no idea what's going on. Could potentially be for Wonder Woman, or maybe another character entirely. All I know is that Deadline is as "official" as it gets, so this is either a rare screw up on their part, or Gunn isn't being entirely truthful (which he's done before in these kids of situations).

Now THR and Variety are both saying it is, indeed, Maxima...

That's pretty ****ty. I don't know why it's such a game with these filmmakers/studios. Compared to the eventual audience that will see the movie itself, the amount of people who follow the news at this stage is so minimal, it simply makes no difference who knows what when. Maybe he has to deny it for negotiating purposes, though, who knows?

I agree, Penguin was amazing too

Yeah, Reeves had to deal with some kind of personal family or health issue for a year or so it sounds like. Then the strikes delayed it by another year. So that's a two-year delay that was out of his control, otherwise the movie would have released this past October as originally scheduled.

That, and I definitely agree that The Batman is in a completely different league than Superman. It's not even close for me, really, as The Batman is one of my favorite movies of the decade so far.

I was less commenting on how slow Reeves was and simply acknowledging how crazy it is that an entire other cinematic universe has launched and we'll be damn near three years into it before The Batman Part II ever releases. Something no one would have expected in March 2022.
