I'm diggin the tone and aesthetic, definitely some hints of Guardians in there as well. Has potential so fingers crossed.

Also hadn't seen the news about Lanterns being delayed til just now, that's a bummer.

Love the setup that Kara witnessed Krypton's downfall and she's day drinking through the galaxy to cope. Trailer looks fun. Excited for this one!

Guardians of the Supergirl, I'm down.

The comic book source for this storyline is great. Worth reading if you dgaf about spoilers.

Based on all the early buzz (apparently the script is incredible, according to multiple sources), and now the trailer, I actually think Supergirl will be better than Superman. It seems to be a lot of fun, and I'm legit looking forward to it.

That said, IMO, the James-Gunn-ification of the DCU is already starting to get a little tired. Between Creature Commandos, Superman, the second season of Peacemaker, and now Supergirl (which, mentioned above, basically looks to feature a female Starlord, down to the trench coat, headphones, and the '70s/'80s soundtrack). In a vacuum, each project has been fun, had its own charm, etc. And again, I think Supergirl will continue that trend. But as a whole? It's time to start mixing it up in terms of tone.

Thankfully they've got Clayface next September, and then Lanterns premiering the month prior, for which we just got our first look (only ten seconds, though, below, from a broader HBO trailer), both of which finally look to be going different, more serious routes...

It's been interesting how various universes have tried to build things out.

MCU obviously set the template, focusing on the main leads and slowly getting more obscure. (Adding Spider-Man late in the game was a nice shot in the arm too)

The DCEU tried to play catchup with Superman, BvS, WW and Justice League, but kinda got distracted introducing the Suicide Squad as movie #3 and then not doing anything with them again until things were well on their way downhill. Weird choice, lucrative at first but then got distracted by a Harley Quinn spinoff.

Fox focused way too much on the same 3-4 mutants, successful but hamstringing.

For the DCU, I thought they'd stick to a safer script but Creature Commandos, Clayface, etc so early on is kinda playing with fire. Not to mention Superman and Supergirl back to back (same powers, etc). We'll see if it pays off..

Yeah, agreed that they need to start diverging from that feel a bit. It's fun for what it is, but it's not the right tone for everything (and to be fair Superman while a bit over the top in places was a fairly balanced film).

I'm personally really excited for Lanterns, has a chance to be something really cool and unique if done well.

Lanterns is the most excited I've been for a TV show since Andor

I'm already way over it. Gunn seems more interested in the soundtrack than a coherent story these days.

But at least there's a giant beam shooting straight up into the sky. What a cool, original idea
