Just watched the 2nd episode of this last season. It had a few moments but yes it was a weak episode. I liked the premiere and hoping the series finishes strong.

It was a bad episode. I'd be fine with them leaning heavily into/blending Larry's actual personal politics into the show more if there was clever/funny writing to support it. As mentioned this was just incredibly lazy.

Ep 1 was a 7/10 by Curb standards. Solid start to the season and promising.

Ep 2 was a dud. 3/10.

I've never seen nor heard of a lawn jockey, and I'm curious as to how many of these actually exist in yards at this point. It feels like it would be exceedingly rare.

When I lived in New England, my neighbor had one. Except it was holding a fishing pole and not a lantern

I enjoyed the 2nd episode much more than the 1st. First epi fell very flat for me

Well if you were referring to me since I mentioned Larry's personal politics...I've made it clear on another board time and time again that I'm not voting for Trump. And I think Guliani is a caricature and a sad little man.

This episode just wasn't very funny.

I don't mean to analyze this episode to death, I just found it unbelievable that after everyone at the house had already commented on how distasteful/racist the lawn jockey was, Susie had them replace it because she didn't want to pay a fee. Especially considering they're all incredibly wealthy people. It just felt so ridiculously forced. Combine that with the guy getting arrested for wearing the jacket Larry gave him, which made no sense, along with a couple other more minor things, and it all simply required more suspension of disbelief than usual. Not to mention it just wasn't that funny, IMO.

The security deposit had to be awful

I own a red hat and found the episode to be pretty funny, as well as the first, but nothing close to anything in previous seasons. Hope it improves and finishes strong.

ETA: I do not however own a lawn jockey.

Susie will NOT lose the security deposit, she takes money seriously.

Another example (don't remember the season/episode) when she takes her diamond ring to the jeweler, same guy that owed Larry money for a golf tournament and has "forgetful moments", she told him (yelled at him) he sold her a lifetime repair/replacement warranty. Clearly this never happened, but she got it fixed for free.

She is not going to pay for a racist lawn jockey.

IF only there was a phrase for something where you would stop critical thinking and logic in understanding something that is unreal or impossible in reality, in a movie or tv.

Overall a pretty bad episode, but Leon was great as always.

Even though you knew it was coming a mile away, his initial reaction to the lawn jockey had me cracking up.

Like I said in my initial reaction, I can and do suspend disbelief all the time, when it's just one plot line that doesn't make sense, is way too coincidental, etc. Especially when it's funny. But in this episode, all three plot lines strained credulity and IMO, none of them were funny. That's the difference.

If I had a dollar for every time a plotline was silly in Curb, I'd be as rich as Larry.

The Guiliani thing was funny to me. Sue me.
