I would say there isn't much marketing for this album, wouldn't know it was coming out if it wasn't for this thread, but I'm not the target demographic.
Listening to the album and my first thoughts:
It all sounds the same. The comparisons to Midnights is accurate. She is a very talented musician, but this album is big miss imo. She needs to break away from Jack Antonoff and try something a little different.

Total misfire, Taylor.
For all the ownership she had of the landscape in 2023, which was masterful, this just ain't it.
There isn't a hit on this album.
It now makes sense that something seemed off about the rollout.
I expected a more intimate album, given the title and the timing, but this is trying to do that while still being Antonoff over-produced.
Also not sure what she's doing with all the fbombs. Like I love a good fbomb. Have for years. But her brand is young girls. And that exploded even more than it already was this year. So we got half of the tracks as explicit now, that our daughters can't listen to?
She clearly knows more than I do. But I bet she pretty quickly rolls out another re-record.

I listened to it all… pretty boring, and agree, don't think there is a hit on the album… it's all kinda downer music. I think the second album that came out at 2am the anthology is way better, but still just meh…

It's fine but it's also not novel, so I'm sure it'll get hated on for a bit before it grows on folks and they find their favorite song or lyric.
Definitely speaks to the power TS has now though that she can feel confident dropping a double album of not her best work and it'll still do huge numbers.

Haven't listened yet but second straight release with the money grab move. Last time Midnights came out and then at 3 a.m. she released the 3 a.m. version with extra songs.
Now this time a surprise double album at 2 am? I learned my lesson last time but what about people who preordered? She phrases it as a surprise/good thing but it's kind of an F you move to me. $13.99 for the album l… oh wait, if you had just waited 2 hours you could have got the double album for $14.99!!! If you want the extra songs you'll have to buy them for $1.29 a pop!

I think that has killed a lot of artists though. I don't feel like that is exclusive to TS.
Like I love Chris Stapleton's first couple of albums and his early stuff with other bands, but (in regards to his solo career) he's a prime example to me of listening to one song and having heard all of them.

Listened to a few songs on my run this morning. I concur with the general sentiment that it is good, but nothing really stands out. Some clever lyrics in there

It goes both ways. People complain if a new album sounds the same and they complain if it is too different. People just like to complain.
I do think the multiple "exclusive" versions of albums are becoming excessive. I know a lot of people do it but Taylor Swift is particularly egregious about it.

I haven't listened all the way through yet, but there are a few songs I really like so far. I don't hear anything that will be a radio hit, but that's ok. Overall, his has a certain vibe that I like. Not my favorite album of hers but not my least favorite either. I've found that sometimes her albums take some time to grow on me. I didn't particularly like Midnights at first but now it's a favorite.

I have XM radio on my truck, and Channel 13 was adjusted to Taylor Swift only songs. I had a 30 minute commute so turned it on as they are playing the album in order non stop. I heard about 4-5 songs, and they all were about how she thought she would marry a guy and then had all that taken away. There wasn't a deviation. Just another way to say the same thing.
Having all those songs together just felt kind of depressing... and awkward considering she's supposedly in a good relationship right now.
