This casting is pretty insane. How is this not an actual, related family?

Oz got great cell reception down in those old subway tunnels.

Fred Astaire dancing around in Top Hat, tails, and shooting a machine gun. Very comic Penguin look

Young Penguin makes an impulsive decision to lock his bros in the tunnel and doubles down on that decision with no looking back. He made similar impulsive decisions like rattling out Sophia and shooting her brother, Mr. Maisel, at the beginning with similar follow up

Penguins Mom has Dementia with Lewy bodies. Same thing as Robin Williams

The Arkham parallels were nice, but why would Sophia put her niece in a home instead of keeping her herself? Maybe not her choice?

Was that Singin in the Rain Oz and his mom watched as his brothers drowned in a rainstorm?

Penguin is such a scumbag at every turn, but yet I'm still very curious to watch the story

A small detail I liked was showing Rex Calabrese was just some random street-level thug that was having a dude beat up on the street. Nothing like the guy he's been talking up the entire show.

Kind of goes to show he built up this persona mostly in his head, the ideal of what he wanted for himself, and not based in reality.
I also noticed that, and it's why details like that make this show so damn good. Os is a sociopath, he has been since he was a kid, hence what happened to his brothers. What he wants is the only thing that matters. He constructs narratives in his own head to justify what he does and who he wants to be. And since his mother has memory issues he's constantly shaping her reality as well, they only live partially in the real world, so much of what they both live in is a product of his imagination.

We don't know that Rex doesn't move up to be the Gotti like boss Penguin talked about.
