First episode was fantastic

Yeah, when you get the chance check out the video I posted above. They name/give context for every city listed. Pretty cool, and such crazy attention to detail.

Do you need to watch The Batman first? Haven't had a chance to do that yet.

I mean, it's not absolutely necessary, but I can't image not. Seeing as the show takes place literally days after the movie ends, and the plot of the show is directly related to who dies and what happens in the final act of The Batman.

If you know the Penguin character is a mob enforcer kind of character, that is all you really need. Has nothing to do with Batman at this point.

I also recommend you watch the movie. But to be fair, the first 5 minutes of this pilot gives a quick and dirty recap of the movie.

Yes, if you don't understand what happened to the city and especially what happened with the Falcone family then you will not have the full experience. Commit 5 hours on Sunday to watching the Batman, Episode 1, and then Episode 2.

Just watched Episode 1 and I really enjoyed it! Fun stuff

I always thought you pronounced the last E in Falcone. Don't remember if they did in The Batman. They don't in this.

Who's idea was it to cast Colin Farrel? He is unrecognizable. You'd think they'd go for a Gandolfini type over Farrel in a ton of make up. Whoever thought of it has incredible vision.

Don't understand the name change from Cobblepot to Cobb. Cobblepot is such a better name. Good idea giving him a club foot so he waddles like a penguin.

Don't know how I feel about humanizing The Penguin with a sick mom

Rita Hayworth popping up to give the Penguin an idea. One of Andy's posters from Shawshank. Then Clancy Brown shows up.

Sofia Falcone was the mom from How I Met Your Mother. She does crazy well. Had big cute eyes in HIMYM, now has big crazy eyes

"Cobblepot" is an aristocratic name, obviously used in the more traditional version of the character who, like Bruce, came from money. While, in contrast, this version is, of course, a poorer, blue-collar, underdog iteration. I like the ring of "Cobblepot" more as well, but admit that "Cobb" fits this version of the character better.

From what I've gathered it was Colin's decision because originally he was supposed to just wear a prosthetic nose but no fat suit or anything else. SO glad that didn't manifest itself as it would have not worked at all but Farrel supposedly was the first choice for the role.

There also apparently is a graphic novel version of Penguin that's a dead ringer for what Colin looks like on the show so perhaps that was an inspiration as well.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this was a plot hole or I missed something but I'm not sure how Victor would have known to save Oswald when he did. Oswald was surprised to see Sophia at his place and then ran from them and got caught. Yet after the fact we are led to believe that was all planned?

While he was being chased, he was trying to call Vic but was getting his voicemail. That's the last we see until he stops and then ultimately gets into the trunk. We are led to believe he left the VM and Vic got it.

I caught that and thought of it but it looked pretty clear to me he hung up when got Vic's VM. Guess he could have called again while in the trunk though.

Yes, that was Rita Hayworth singing the song that gave the idea for Penguin to find a patsy. That song is from the same movie they watch in Shawshank with the hair flip: Gilda

Maybe as part of their plan Penguin shared his location with Vic. Then gave Vic instructions that Penguin will call every 15 minutes, if Penguin misses a call, then it is time to reveal the dead body at Penguin's location.
