Just watched the first episode. Did not expect to be this invested this early. Really enjoyed it and I'm all in.
Nice follow up to the incredible premiere. I'm really enjoying watching Oz work both sides, and especially Sofia.
Also really liked the artistic touch of the opening "The Penguin" forming a beak on Oz at the start of the episode.

I like how Vic is being used in this episode, like an incompetent henchman in over his head.
I think it's fairly obvious that Oz's mom is going to be what ultimately pushes him to be the kingpin of Gotham instead of working for the Maroni's or Falcone's.
I did think he was going to pin the knife on Viti, but it was smart of him to put it on Castillo and use Viti's dirt on him later.

The craziness of Sofia while also being a pitiful character is a really cool dynamic. She always has that unhinged look, where you quickly remember she's a serial killer for a reason.
The Industry season finale was so staggeringly good last night that I couldn't switch gears for The Penguin, plus it was late, so still haven't watched last night's episode, but this is beyond impressive…

I remember seeing IGN's review and it wasn't great. Granted the RT score looks great. Hadn't checked it in awhile.

It's currently at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the reactions I've come across have been overwhelmingly positive. Any negative review, like the IGN one, is an outlier. Heck, I think I've only seen one negative post in this entire thread so far, which is a rarity for this board.

Exactly. I was all set to knock out Industry/Penguin back-to-back last night, but after that finale I just couldn't do it. It was too damn good. I'm finally about to start episode two of Penguin, though.
I was disappointed in the second episode. The pilot episode was phenomenal that took time to develop. In particular, I loved the Scorsese-esque scenes with the music and violence in the car chase to bus kill scene. The second episode felt rushed. The pacing seemed too convenient and filled with gimmicks. Instead of the complexity and deliberate unfolding that made the pilot so engaging, I was ready for this episode to be over.
Felt the exact opposite. In the best way, to me this show is like the mob version of the trope where the guy somehow finds himself on two dates at once, at the same location, and is having to sneak back and forth between them without either finding out. It's got that same, edge-of-your-seat energy, akin to the relentless, how-the-hell-is-he-going-to-get-out-of-this-mess vibe that Ozark (OZark?) did so well. I thought episode two was damn good in that regard.

I hope we dont see much more of Theo Rossi's character, the therapist guy. Dude is an AWFUl actor. Bad enough to stand out on sons of anarchy as being the worst.
So for the Batman nerds here, have we seen any other villains or potential villains? I saw some chatter the therapist may be one.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.
Just dropping in to say this show is awesome. My wife watched it & had no idea it was a "comic book" movie.... she likely would have never bothered, but now she's hooked.
I think anyone sees a therapist they want it to be Hugo Strange.

On episode 2. Colin Farrel is so ****ing good. Loving this already. Also Victor reminds me of a younger Weston McKennie. It's definitely the hair.

I'm doing a Luke Cage rewatch (during a rewatch of all the marvel netflix shows) and he is so bad in it. He tries to be intimidating around all these Harlem gangsters and you can't buy it at all
