I'm never going to watch this movie, but given how this individual is basically self-immolating in front of the world during an oscar campaign with 13 nominations I hope it sweeps all the categories. It would just be the absolute best thing to happen to that show, and more importantly the viewing experience would be incredible. This movie is going to be thought of with as much reverence as Freddy Got Fingered which is nothing short of a miracle.TCTTS said:"Emilia Pérez" star Karla Sofía Gascon's bigoted, violent, and often frankly bizarre stream of consciousness — on an X/Twitter feed that she has now deleted — has exposed not merely a remarkable lack of judgment, proportion, or good sense. Nine of the last 10 Best Director Oscar winners also won at DGA. 👀 https://t.co/0R9AfFIZ51

It may have gotten blanked at the Golden Globes, but after winning at DGA and PGA tonight, ANORA is our Best Picture front runner. The PGA stat is especially telling: Since 2009, the PGA winner has gone on to claim the best-picture Oscar all but 3 times.

Anora FTW!!! What a weekend:

What would you guys say are must-watch movies for the year, for someone who isn't into movies that are overly pretentious/more concerned about being artsy over entertaining?
I had a member of the Atlanta Film Society tell me the other day that this is "the worst year for films since the pandemic", which is obviously an opinion but also something that seems an accurate measurement of how people feel about 2024 in film. There is almost no popular representation in the nominees, and most people don't seem to give an eff who wins. Kinda depressing list of nominees as well.Definitely Not A Cop said:

I saw "I'm Still Here" last night, and really enjoyed it. Not exactly the feel good movie of the year, however.BassCowboy33 said:

Depressing reminder that the much of the Academy is A) just voting for their friends and B) isn't watching anything close to all the films. Not everyone is Kirsten Dunst and Carrie Coon!!!!! https://t.co/IAJ2CBKtcp

They both believed he won an Oscar for ‘SCHINDLER’S LIST’, which he didn’t.

That's about as bad as the one-off baseball writers who refused to vote for anyone 1st ballot because "if Babe Ruth wasn't unanimous, nobody should be"
